I'm mostly interested in Metal Gear Rising/Revengeance, I know Platinum Games won't disappoint.
What's with the hate for that game? Obviously, it isn't a true Metal Gear game, but it doesn't look like its going to be a bad game either. How could one not think that it looks fun?

I think the hate just comes from the fact that it's still part of the Metal Gear canon. Would've made more sense to just keep it non canon

That or it's just a vocal minority. Probably the folks at TheSnakeSoup or something, those guys are always awfully grumpy.

"Cave shit"? Yes, it would be nice to have other companies in on the action, but... was that really necessary? If you think it's a chore to play, well fine, but I wouldn't call it "shit."

I don't see how one could not be excited for E3 this year.
The Wii U will finally be fully revealed.
Actual games will be announced for it too!
The 3DS will have some great titles shown off too.
Most importantly, I must know if the rumored Star Fox/Metroid crossover is real!

3DS? Don't care. (not region free makes me even more don't care)
Star Fox/Metroid? Don't care.
X-Box 3/whatever it's called? Don't care.

Now, could be totally wrong, but here's the way I see it. Let's say I'm a smoker, which I'm not but I'm making a point, and I have smoked all my life pretty much. I love to smoke, but here's the catch: I only smoke cigarettes from the 80s. To me, that's the same as saying you like retro games but have no interest at all in modern games. It just can't be possible, and it's ridiculous to try and make yourself believe. Again, I could be entirely misguided, but that's the way I see it. No one who loves to smoke would only smoke cigarettes from the 80s, and no one who loves to game would only show interest in games from the 80s.

There are lots of people who are only interested in old movies and aren't really interested much in modern movies at all.

There are people who listen exclusively to classic rock. They really don't care to listen to modern rock. (For that matter, there are people who exclusively listen to classical music and snub their nose at anything modern).

That analogy only works if the quality of cigarettes from the 80s are different from the ones in the 90s through today.

Because it's a mindset, a belief. Not a true opinion. I'm just trying to shed a bit of new light on the situation. I love retro gaming, but I don't purposely cut myself off from the utter brilliance and creativity of modern gaming just to call myself retro. Also the argument of quality is truly invalid. Plenty of retro-feeling games have hit modern systems, such as New Super Mario Bros. most notably, as well as Raiden IV, and these games are great. Lastly if you are a retro gamer, isn't it interesting to see the evolution of the industry since the days of the NES? You may not like modern games, but at the very least you must like the culture and evolution of gaming.
