When exactly did Gaming have an old drug culture?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

It's pathetically obvious how desperately this guy wants to be the new Hunter S. Thompson. That being said, people in the U.K. are crazy (I like drugs, I like video games, BUT BOTH TOGETHER?!)

Ok, that picture at the bottom startled me.
That's all I have to say for now...

Read the article between levels of SMB3. Unfortunately, I'm still too high on crack and Zoloft to figure out what picture you guys are talking about. All I could see was Cammy Koopa casting a spell in my direction.

I 'll have to take a gander later, along with a cornish hen when the munchies set in.

'when exactly did gaming have an old drug culture?' you ask? that doctor on the bottom of the intro page was surely a part of it, heh

they may be referring to the days of yore:
"aye, what lay over there my dear serf? eghast, it is but a lonely shrub with ominous purple berries sitting behind an octorok. eat of it!"
"the berries, sire? or the octorok?"
"nay, the shrubbery itself, you swine!"
*gulp* "sire, i see many colors nonexistant prior to mine consumption! scalawag!"
"good show, good show! our highness orzack must hear of these exploits at once!"

I used to play a lot of Dr. Mario when I was under various influences, but it hardly enhanced my skill. Of course, as of today, I've been stone sober for four years.

Well, if you actually read the entire article, you'll see that just the preface is concerning use of drugs for competive gaming. The majority of it deals with a gonzo-esque expose where a reporter covered a 48-hour non-stop party with every game and drug imaginable. The philosophical arguements raised actually made pretty good sense.
