I did that exact thing. I played it on my Super Game Boy and really enjoyed it! I gave up on the part where you need to find the "eight palm" or something. I didn't use any walkthroughs or outside help, so I got stuck and had to quit after two long play sessions of no progress.

I looked it up later, and it is 100% completely and utterly impossible bullshit that no one would figure out on their own. It doesn't help that there is actually a screen where there are palm trees aligned in the shape of an eight. Misdirecting bullshit. I noticed that this part was answered in Nintendo Power's Counselor Corner. I imagine that is how I, and every other English speaker, got through the game back at it's release. I assume the trouble is due to a poor translation.

Other than that, it was fun. The characters you pick up along the way are almost completely useless, other than the healer. They spend most of their time shooting at nothing and wandering around on the other side of the screen.

And?

Haven't quite started playing yet. There's a cool little back story feature that I'm going through that gives you a fully voiced summary of FF XIII's events to help refresh my memory.

I'll say this much though, I recently got a new, 40'' Samsung flatscreen LED TV and this game's opening intro really showed it off. Course, you pretty much have to expect a Final Fantasy game to look gorgeous. That's one of the reasons I picked it up. FF XIII was one of the most gorgeous games I had ever seen

Good man. :) You should also look into Oath in Felghana and Ys Seven.

I've been playing Ys Origin as well. Almost done with Yunica's path... no clue if I will play as Hugo or The Claw next.

Aside from that I started up my PSP the other day to play some more Persona 3 Portable... only to find out that my charger is busted so I had to order a new one. :/

Good god, FF XIII 2 is pretty. Been playing it for a while today, coming off of playing Xenoblade, FF XIII-2 makes it look like a PS1 game by comparison. It's a shame Xenoblade got stuck on the Wii. It's nice to actually hear people talking to me too, after reading dialog boxes all day in Xenoblade.

Hate to sound like a graphics whore, but boy FF games really spoil you on the production value and audio end of things.

What's irritating me though, is that I apparently can't choose save slots in FF XIII-2. When I save, it just automatically does it without bringing up a menu to pick a slot. Xenoblade only lets you use three slots.

What with the save restrictions on rpgs lately? Feels like all modern games do these days is place more and more restrictions on players

I find modern save restrictions strange, considering we have more room for saving than at any other time. On a SNES cart, a three-save limit makes sense. On a 4GB SD card, not so much.
