The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Watched again, lost count how many times I have seen this over the years. This go around experienced the Spaghetti Western in the two disc version with the restored Italian cuts. Since the cuts were made before the English Dub; Eli Wallach, Clint Eastwood and another actor for deceased Lee Van Cleef reprised the roles. The additional scenes look great, but disappointed in how "tinty" the voices were. Great to get two of the original actors, but the sound mixing could have been somehow enhanced to make the now older actors voices for a match.
Anyone notice Lee Van Cleef's missing tip of the finger? All these years I thought it was a standin, Eli confirmed it was Lee's in the Special features of the second disc. So fun to watch the graveyard scene again, the pinnacle importance of watching a movie in widescreen. The music with Eli Wallach running past the grave markers and the final shootout, almost a ballet.

Did you watch it on the newly released Blu-ray? I saw it was $10 at BB & Amazon and have come close to purchasing it. How's the transfer? I saw ALIENS the other day and it looked pretty darn good. Love that movie.Luke wrote: Nah.
Forgot to mention I watched ALIEN last night. For some reason, even with the director's cut, it seemed shorter than usual. Still, it remains fantastic and I look forward to revisiting the sets with Prometheus.

The Alien blu ray transfer is absolutely incredible.Stark wrote:Did you watch it on the newly released Blu-ray? I saw it was $10 at BB & Amazon and have come close to purchasing it. How's the transfer? I saw ALIENS the other day and it looked pretty darn good. Love that movie.Luke wrote: Nah.

Seeing Iron Patriot, it's making me wonder if we'll see a Captain America cameo. It seems unlikely since I think they're trying to get the focus back on Iron Man, but I'm sure we'll get a mention at least.

It can always take place before The Avengers... but it probably won't.
Iron Man 3 has a lot to live up to, and Favreau isn't directing.

Lack of Favreau is concerning. Shane Black? He's done one other movie, how did he land Iron Man 3? Did he do a favor for RD,JR? "I'll help you move, but you owe me!"

I read somewhere that Robert Downey Jr. chose Shane Black from their experience in Kiss Kiss Bang BangStark wrote:Lack of Favreau is concerning. Shane Black? He's done one other movie, how did he land Iron Man 3? Did he do a favor for RD,JR? "I'll help you move, but you owe me!"

I will see this regular version and see if it is truly bad as described.BoringSupreez wrote:I imagine it was the regular version.OldSchool_Boy wrote:What version of the film did you watch?BoringSupreez wrote: The story was kinda dumb, there's no real suspense because we all know what's going to happen to Ripley, the characters are weak, the alien isn't as good as before, and bald people.

Don't hate on Shane Black. He's a decently-respected writer and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is one of the finest films of the last decade. If anything, I hope that IM3 doesn't limit him the way that the shift to action-kiddie fare has tainted Favreau.

I ain't hating son and I love the Leathal Weapon series, but Iron Man 3 is serious biz and handing over to someone that has exactly 1 movie under his belt director-wise, seems to be a pretty bold move, no matter how good that 1 movie is, which I haven't seen.sabrage wrote:Don't hate on Shane Black.
