What do you do with your video game boxes?
I'm curious as to what you guys and gals in here do with your video game boxes. I ask this question because I'm trying to figure out what I should eventually do with mine. See, I'm a relative newcomer to this whole video game collecting scene (since late 2009). Some of my video game purchases have come complete in box (when I say this I mean cartridge based games with the cardboard boxes, I know better than to dispose of the hard cases of disc based games and Genesis games). Now, I keep mine on one of the shelves in my book case, next to my relatively small Gamecube and PC game collection. I still have room for more boxes but there's less room now for me to put more in (if I get games with boxes) and I honestly would rather use the room on the shelf for more actual game storage as opposed to showing off boxes. And yes, I do NOT keep the games in the boxes (I keep the games with their respective collections). All in told, I have 5 GBA boxes, 5 SNES boxes, 2 N64 boxes, and 3 NES boxes. So I'm curious about what you all do with your boxes (besides those who have posted photos of their collections that include games with cardboard boxes). Posted as an attachment is a photo of my shelf with my boxes (it doesn't include the whole shelf, just enough to show the boxes). Thanks.

Yep. Before that, I kept them in a drawer.AznKhmerBoi wrote:yea pretty the same as what you are doing lol.

I like your NES lego controller.
I used to do the same as you, but after running our of shelf space I packed them neatly into a box and placed it in the attic. Ideally I would like to get more shelving and display them though.

Yeah, same here. I have a small shelf dedicated to my N64 boxes (It's almost full unfortunately, not sure what I'll do once I run out of room there). And I keep my games on a bookcase. I keep all of my manuals sitting out so I can easily access them if I get bored and want to read or need to look up something. haha

If you don't want necessarily to display your boxes, just unfold/collapse them and store them in a plastic bin somewhere or something.

If the game came in a box, I keep it in there. On the shelves, I simply put the boxed games next to their loose brethren. Looks okay to me.

Back in the day and when I first started collecting again, NES and SNES boxes were kept in the closet and I had the carts out in a holder or on a shelf ready to play. Unfortunately right now my cart stuff all lives in boxes, but if I had room I'd probably have boxed and loose carts set up on a shelf. Carts I was playing a lot I might leave out of the boxes for a while.

I'll respectively disagree. I've personally seen a couple of boxes made to where they could not be saved or ar to well pressed to be put back correctly. Also, when done incorrectly, they can cause unwanted creases from a collector's standpoint.AppleQueso wrote:If you don't want necessarily to display your boxes, just unfold/collapse them and store them in a plastic bin somewhere or something.
I'd personally get those fitted pastic protection boxes they make for them, and keep them in those, as to save them from any dampness and dust, along with saving the conrners from falls or any part of the box tearing. Upon getting these protective boxes, you could store them as you wish.
