I will refrain from said movie. And I will refrain from said suggestion of great plot.

Mainly because I find this style of comedy downright retarded... but alas my mother raised me on the likes of "Black Adder", "Red Dwarf" 1st season, Tracy Ullman, Monty Python, and other shit. I stretched further to find comedy in cynicism and darkness... i.e. comedians like Christopher Titus, Bill Hicks, etc.

Now that may sound really BRITISH to you... but no. It's just the Brits do Black Comedy and dry humour very well and it was the only easy outlet for my mother to introduce me to it.

What I find insatiably humorous is the scene in "Brazil" when Sam sits down to dinner with his mother and friends. Mid conversation a stunt explosion put on the government to simulate a terrorist act goes off behind them killing multiple people. Sam is amazed by the blatant destruction and abuse of citizens and private property is being ignored. Instead though everyone else continues with there conversation and the waitor apologizes for any inconvenience and ushers bus boys over to put up divider walls decorated in satin and lace to block the view of death and destruction from the wealthy group of patrons.

Now THAT is hilarious.

Brazil is the best retelling of 1984 ever. Just as depressing too....

The big reason I love Terry Gilliam. He can make you piss your pants laughing, amaze you with skilled actors, visually make your draw drop, hurt your brain with teasers and plot twists and make you cry from depression all in the same movie so well. And movies that you wouldn't expect it from either.

1984 funny?
Time travel and apocolyptic disease scifi... having a epic dramatic feel to it with emmy award winning acting?
A drug induced frenzy seeming to have an underlying moral comment? (though I hate this particular film)

Just good stuff. Top dawg though... "Adventures of Baron Munchausen"!
