Yep that is correct. Blink on and off the screen constant . I have a Japanese model a/v famicon model with 60-72 pin convertor . And it also happen in my USA model top loader nes . The flashing also hurt my eyes as well .

Probably just not remembering how bad the NES could flicker when things got crazy horizontally.
