Bacteria's project: "Project Unity"
Re: Bacteria's project: "Project Unity" (formally: Alpha Ome
Really am I the only person who thinks the dogbone controller looks amazing?
Re: Bacteria's project: "Project Unity" (formally: Alpha Ome
I have some original NeoGeo games: Neo Turf Masters, Puzzle Bobble and Metal Slug X. NeoGeo games are very expensive, can cost hundreds each game. The only multicart i'm using is for the NeoGeo for that reason. I did research the multicarts and unlike some, this one i'm using presents the ROM image as if it were from an original MVS cart.Drakon wrote:Original games on the original hardware...but you're using a 161-in-1 MVS multicart! Also your controllers won't be original but I guess that's for the sake of not having a huge mess of wires.
Anyway cd drives really turn me off from a console cds break easily and the disk drives themselves also break very easily. Being able to run a game off of flash or a rom means it'll probably last forever. I figure if I own the cd or dvd of the game then playing it off of a usb is perfectly fine.
This brings me to another question...are you one of those people who prefer the nasty rectangular nes controller over the newer dog bone one just because you grew up with the rectangular one? I've met a lot of people who prefer using the stupid rectangular controller just for that reason, guess I'm not as nostalgic as most people.
There is no way I could use original controllers, as you'd know from this project as it's using one controller for all systems, not separate ones per console system; this is one of the uniqueness of this project, no-one else on the net has done it - I have.
With the exception of the MVS multicart, and some plug'n'plays, all other games for this system will be originals in original formats, no burnt copies or ROMS.

Cool thanks for the explanation. So will your controller only have one cord? Also when you change which system you're playing how do you set the controller to that system? Is it changed by changing the nes cart in the back? Does it plug into a different controller port? Is there some sort of switch?
Re: Bacteria's project: "Project Unity" (formally: Alpha Ome
One cord, one controller, works on all systems. No plugs for different controllers - my master controller does all! My previous master controller video showed how, however made new version and will make video for that in a few days when got the PS2 done; you'll see all then!

I don't think it looks amazing, but I don't think it's ugly, either. Oddly enough, I still prefer the rectangle over the dogbone. Although it might be because of wear and tear, I never liked the feel of the d-pad.Drakon wrote:Really am I the only person who thinks the dogbone controller looks amazing?

I don't think we had the dog bone controller in the UK, just got the regular shape.

That's a real shame. I think the dog bone looks way better and feels better too.bacteria wrote:I don't think we had the dog bone controller in the UK, just got the regular shape.

Yeah, the rectangle one wasn't the best design for holding, although not bad at all.
If you want a controller that sucks major big time, think Colecovision; probably the worst one going; even than the Intellivision, and that takes some doing.

Made video clips and in process of compiling the next video (the Master Controller).
In the interim, here's a pic of the master controller complete with NES cart (using the shell to house console controller for each system), and pinout:
