Tonic Trouble! Oh Yeah, I like this obscure game.

Nice Finds! When I spotted Giga Wing 2 used a few years back, I had a panic attack thinking it was Propellar Arena.

Game Boy Advance 85% Off Finds
More GBA games shipped in. In addition to a requested GBA game, sometimes a far away Gamestop will ship out their remaining stock of GBA games. The additional GBA carts do not take up that much room in the package and it gives them an opportunity to clear their inventory. Dumping their games on the receiving store gives me another opportunity to discover unknown titles. I had only requested the second GBA Invader cart shipped in, which also brought in a variety of additional GBA games.

A Gamestop at Zip Code 75211 in Dallas Texas.
wow, Invader for $2 is amazing. CRT, notice the label says EUR? I have never actually seen one that says US. It's my theory that the game was cancelled in the US, and all the copies you can find here are imports.

GBA Invader - $9.99 $2.25
Nobody jumped at a chance of the rare game, so I said heck with it and had it shipped in. At least I waited a couple weeks to give someone else an opportunity. This was the VERY LAST COPY at any Gamestop in the U.S. and is difficult to find, also has a EUR PAL tag on it! I can justify owning two copies since it is Link capable with two GBAs. :D

ATV Quad Power Racing - $4.99 $1.13
What a difference in a game when handled by a different developer. There was also another cycle racer in the pile called Quad Desert Fury which is pure garbage with static movement. This version runs smooth, glad that I hit the reviews to figure out which is the better title.

B-Daman - $4.99 $1.13
A strange name. Searching online, pics of the screen reminded me of Atari 5200 Ball Blazer with what looked like a goalie at the end. I became curious and researched further. YouTube videos showed a kind of reverse Klax with the same gameplay of moving sideways and hitting targets. A good move, this Atlus game almost slipped by me.

Matchbox Missions Double Pack - $4.99 $1.13
Two separate games combined in one cart. The Matchbox label put me off as a simple games, but the two separate games are addicting and worthy of repeat play.

Air, Land and Sea Rescue - Race away or drive as a cop, basic portable version concept of Need For Speed.
Emergency Response - Drive Emergency vehicles and even fly a Helicoptor to perform rescue missions.

Video Game Critic wrote: http://videogamecritic.net/gbamr.htm#Ma ... y_Response

This two-in-one combo is a pleasant surprise, with both titles being equally good. Each game boasts large vehicles, tight controls, a password feature, and a pulse-pounding soundtrack. Emergency Response is a pursuit-style game where you can either play as the police or the suspect (I prefer being the cop). There's not much to see as you race through the suburbs, desert, or snowy mountain peaks, but the addictive action never lets up! The suspect has a health meter that you wear down by bumping him from behind or blocking from the front. There's actually some subtle strategy as you decide whether to bump or go for the pass. The only thing that sucks is how the suspect can pick up "health" icons to regain strength! The second game, Air, Land, and Sea Rescue, is uneven but still compelling. You control a helicopter, ambulance, or boat while attempting to save a certain number of people as the clock ticks down. The helicopter controls well and reminded me of Desert Strike (Genesis, 1992). The boat stages are less interesting because the narrow waterways seem rather maze-like. The ambulance stages are the best, although your vehicle is a bit slow. A radar display indicates the approximate locations of fuel, health, your home base, and your next destination. I wasn't expecting much from Matchbox Missions, but I enjoyed playing both games. Especially if you can pick it up cheap, you'll definitely get your money's worth.

Monster Truck Madness - $9.99 $2.25
Another racing game, this one is up there and even better then ATV Quad Power Racing. Very smooth when making turns and there is even a first person view, I get Vertigo jumping the hills.

Mr Driller 2 - $9.99 $2.25
When I bought Invader, this came in the pile from the other Gamestop. Having played the Dreamcast version, No need to research, grabbed it right away! Great going down a pit, think Tetris mixed with Dig Dug.

Tower SP -$6.99 $1.57
I have GBA Sim City so why not get a closer look concentrating on just one building? Plays similar to Sim Tower, I can see hours tied up to this, should the Restaurant on the second floor be a Burger Joint or an Ice Cream Parlor?

Yggdra Union - $9.99 $2.25
Anyone driving to Vegas from Southern CA goes by a small town called Zzyzx. No relation to the game, but I remembered that bit of trivia nonsense when I saw the title. One of these days I'm going to see what is in that weird named town. The game looks like a different take on Advance Wars, so maybe a good purchase? Evidently there is a PSP remake of it. Another Atlus game to add to the collection! 8)

GBA Urban ----?
At first the torn label kept me from buying this game. I figured it was something like an Urban Skateboarding or a basic Urban Fight type of game. The employee was kind enough to print out a complete listing of every GBA related SKU so I could go home and research the games. I could have bought it for a test run, but this Gamestop has over twenty GBA games with titles I never heard of. Most of the games in this Reply are from the printout research before purchase.
The kind of game that was designed and programmed by some drunken computer science students who had nothing better to do over their spring break. Upon doing some research, the game was developed by a small Canadian outfit that was part of another small company.
The game is no Chewbacca, but strangely different with mini games based on Older Arcade games.
See the pic and take a guess, without a Google search.
Posted in the Spoiler at the very bottom.

Look closely at the UPC for Invader in the pic above, it was traded just a couple of months ago this year at a Gamestop in Texas! Either that or the GBA cart was found buried in a drawer and received the sticker. Yggdra Union threw me off, just like the Urban game, I thought the GBA label was damaged.

The yellow envelope just will not do for storing GBA games and digging thru GBA carts in a pouch is a pain. I found a great solution in using COIN PAGES, there are alternative methods offered by other Members as well.

Urban Yeti - $2.99 0.67¢
I never heard of this game, but since Hardcore Gaming 101 reviewed it, I had to get it!

Urban Yeti was one of their few "original" games, and was funded entirely inhouse. Urban Yeti is a labor of love, and it shows. The goofy sense of humor is something that would have never flown with corporate suits and their focus groups. I can imagine Cavebarn Studios trying to sell them idea to a company like Electronic Arts, only to be met by a disheveled Larry Probst at the door, with his finger hovering over a large red button that says "Release The Hounds". Yet somehow they got a publishing deal with British game retailer Telegames, who also published anti-classics like Soccer Kid.

And thus begins the first mini-game. Which is exactly the same as Midway's classic arcade game Tapper. Earn enough money and you're off to cross the bridge like the rich yeti you've become. Most of the game follows this structure - follow the arrow on the screen, getting new objectives, and repeat, until you come across one of the other minigames. The second minigame is a Yeti ultimate frisbee tournament that plays vaguely like Discs of Tron. The third one is a tribute to the Midway classic Toobin'. The fourth is a completely original game called "The Chicken Toss", which is exactly as it sounds - you need to hurl various fowl into a grinder, all while avoiding the wrath of a particularly furious rooster. These minigames are undoutedly the best part of Urban Yeti - they mimic the classics they're patterned after fairly well, and can be accessed at any time through a cheat code.

Anyone who finds this in the wild, the code to unlock everything is TONYGOLD. :D

@CRT: some nice scores there. Urban Yeti is actually a pretty damn tough game to find in the wild. And as you've seen from that HG101 article, it's an extremely weird and unique game.

Yggdra Union is awesome. It's an SRPG developed by Sting and part of the Dept Heaven series which also includes Riviera, Knights in the Nightmare and the upcoming Gungnir. Riviera was also on GBA, but the entire series (so far) has appeared on PSP. It's probably one of my favorite RPG series out there as each game is just completely unique gameplay-wise. For instance Yggdra is a strategy game but also includes elements of card battle games. All of the Dept Heaven games do this sort of genre mash-up -- Riviera is like a visual novel + dating sim + SRPG, while Knights is a shmup SRPG. Yggdra Union is one of the few games in the series to get sequels of its own, though none of those titles (on DS and PSP) have made it to the US. (Actually, maybe I'm wrong about the DS ones, as I haven't paid as close attention to DS lately.)

Anyway, /rant. I just really think that series is awesome haha.

WTF? You #$%#@!!! I am jealous. I'm still rebuilding my DC collection. My only shooter now (aside from burnt copies of everything) is Giga Wing, and my only 2D fighter is SFIII:3S.

I did have a decent DC find today. I got:

Dreamcast console (July 2000)
2 controllers
Power cord (no AV or RF at all...)
1 3rd party memory card (meh)
NFL 2K1
NBA 2K1
World Series Baseball 2K1
NHL 2K
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Web Browser 2.0 (sealed)

It was in a box at Salvation Army, but priced separately. The console was $20. I asked if I could have everything for $25, and they gave it to me. I figure it was a good deal.

Everything, aside from NHL and Splinter Cell is in immaculate condition. NHL and S.C. were in decent shape.

I tested some burnt games on it and they worked, to my surprised. It thought it just the launch unit that played burnt games without a mod (unless this one is modded...). Does anyone know which release lot of DC consoles they got them to stop reading burnt discs on?
