Sega Saturn Power Supply Question

Post by ReddMcKnight »

Hey all. I know the answer is probably no, but I'm gonna ask anyway. I have two Saturns, a Model 1 and a Model 2. Something is wrong with 2's Power Supply, so I can't mod-chip it. Can I swap out the Power Supply in 2 with the one in 1? They're both the same voltage according to the back of the Saturn, and they both have the same power cable, with the Square and Circle Input. So, will this work, or should I not do it?

If it is the same voltage input/output/ground and everything connects the same way I don't see why you couldn't swamp them out. But I've never done it or read about anyone doing it so maybe someone might have a little extra insight.

I just looked this up myself, as I messed up my PSU in my model 2. Model 1 boards are not compatible. They have 5 pins, the model 2 has 4 pins. The Model 1 provides a 9V connection the model 2 does not.
