The games you had the most difficulty in getting
I do not necessarily mean for rare games, although you may of course post stories about those as well if you wish. Allow me to clarify. In my case, the process of getting Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations was by far one of the most convoluted things I had to go through. Firstly, I accidentally got a pirated copy from Gamestop, then after realizing there were a few fishy things going on with the box and the game wouldn't save, I promptly returned it. A few months later, I stumbled upon a Game Crazy having a going out of business sale. I saw a copy of Trials and Tribulations there, but when we were leaving the store, I noticed inside it was actually a copy of Hotel Dusk, which I already had at the time. Great game, but not the one I was looking for. Now, I am usually pretty particular with getting CIB for modern games, but when I finally saw a copy at a Gamestop that later proved to be legitimate even though it came with a blank box and no manual, I went for it. At that point I just said screw it, and was finally glad to have a legitimate copy. I could have just gotten the game online sure, but where's the fun in that?

My gf and I drove to Tiffin, Ohio to pick up a cheap CIB copy of Haunting Ground (PS2). That was a trip, to say the least.

Re: The games you had the most difficulty in getting
The game I've had the most trouble with is Medal of Honor, for PS1. First time I bought it, was the same day I ordered my PSone (my very first console) off Ebay about nine years ago. It worked for about 6 months, I think, then I added the perfect scratch that prevented it from loading up anymore. I went to Walmart shortly afterward and bought another copy, which was awesome because it was brand new. But one day, my friend came over for a sleepover, and we were playing Special Ops: Airborne Commando. It's an ok game, but I was tired of it and told my friend he could have it if he wanted. He misunderstood and thought I meant Medal of Honor, which we had also been playing and was right next to Special Ops. I spent a day frantically looking for MOH, before I figured out what had happened. I decided to be nice and say nothing, and just buy a third copy off Amazon (which I still have to this day.)

My most difficult game-getting experience was also one of my earliest retro-gaming adventures and one of the first times I used eBay.
I had just won an Apple IIe computer and was looking for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It came with all kinds of pack-in "feelies" making it tough to find/kind of expensive to get complete.
I won a copy for about $50, but the seller ended up being a deadbeat. I never got a copy and I wasn't using Paypal, so I was only able to get a little bit of that money back. (I think I was working some crappy minimum wage, part-time job so $50 was a big deal at the time.)
Eventually, I found another copy on eBay for maybe $35 and ordered that, but it was missing some of the feelies. Finally, I ordered a copy of the game for an Atari computer to complete the collection of extra stuff.
So I basically bought the game three times. The biggest plus of the whole experience is that I have an extra "Don't Panic" button, so I can wear it without being afraid of anything bad happening to it.

Re: The games you had the most difficulty in getting
Hmmmm....well, I'll post a couple, because one involves me trying to get a game, and one of my mom trying to get a game for me (when I was younger):
Last September, I saw Wario's Woods for the SNES available for a decent deal on Amazon. It was 9 bucks total with shipping (I think it was Complete In Box). So I go ahead and buy it. About a week passes by....nothing. Another week passes by....nothing. So about 2 1/2 weeks after the purchase, I email the person I bought it from, about the status of the game (this person is on the East Coast). I get an email back from the guy saying that he shipped the game out and days later it was returned back to him because, and I quote, "the post office could not locate the address".
So I double check......yep, my address is correct. Hell I even triple checked it.....correct. So the guy tries again. Guess what, the game got returned back to him. Why? Same as before. "The post office could not locate the address". Needless to say I was pissed. Luckily, he then emailed me and said that after that trouble, he wasn't going to bother, so I got a refund. So obviously there are some people who work at the post office on the East Coast who don't know how to locate an address if it bit them in the ass....
So.....how did this get resolved?
Someday, in early 1996 (I think February or March). I was knee deep in Super Nintendo goodness. I had asked my mom about getting me a game. That game was called Mega Man X2. It had come out over a year earlier on the SNES but I loved Mega Man X immensely so I asked my mom to see if she could find it. Well, my mom looked.....and looked....and looked....but she couldn't find it in stores. This process had happened for quite a few months. I had at this point almost all but forgot about it. Until one afternoon when my mom called me in the kitchen. Oh fuck, what did I do? So....what happened?

Pikmin 2, ended up finally finding a copy for $40 at a pawn shop, it was players choice but it was complete. Then i went to a local Game store one day and they had a non-players choice complete that i could of bought for about $35
, and now they are releasing it on the Wii, although im hoping the solid controller GCN version still holds value.

Megaman X3. Took forever to track this one down, it wasn't even a "I'll get it next time I see it, then I never saw it again" thing, I just straight up never saw a copy of this game anywhere for years in person. When I finally did I was all over it...
Secret of Mana is one that got away from me a few times though after seeing it and holding off, lol.

I had a lot of trouble finding Ace attorney Trials and Tribulations too until one day, I found 2 copies at GS
. More recently, I had so much trouble finding what was quite possibly the ONLY copy of Mega man ZX in my area. Megaman ZX was actually my very first DS game but I was stupid and sold it a few years ago. I had to try 3 gamestops before I could find a copy.
Re: The games you had the most difficulty in getting
Gonna re-post this story before dsh comes in and reminds us that there's (probably) a similar thread in progress

From February, it took Priority Mail *10* days to get my GBA SP here. It eventually made *3* cross-country trips from CA to FL. I had to contact the USPS and say WTF?!
The next day after I did that, it came on its 3rd and final trip here.

^^^ Closest thing to that that ever happened to me was when I sent a package to vlame, and after arriving in California they attempted to deliver it but couldn't find his address. It fell off the radar for a few days, then arrived at the destination. BTW, it was Priority mail too.
