Racketboy Community Guide to the Xbox 360
I feel like this forum really needs this, especially since our awesome overlord Racketboy focuses on retro guides pretty much exclusively. So what is this? This is a community run guide to owning an Xbox 360. Basically we'll just make a list of the best accessories, controllers, and games of different genres. I'll start, and I'll make sure to check this daily so whenever one of you posts some suggestions here I'll add them to the list. I'm just the one making the thread, but I'm not controlling it. I would love for this to be totally community run. If some one out there is an avid PS3 fan, I'd suggest making a post like this for that system as well.
Must Have Controllers:
Razer Onza Tournament Edition
Must Have Shooters:
Bioshock
Halo 3
Gears of War 3
Borderlands
Vanquish
Must Have RPGs:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Fallout 3
Mass Effect Trilogy
Fable 2
Must Have Action/Adventure Games:
Batman: Arkham City
L.A. Noire
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
Red Dead Redemption
Must Have Platformers:
Sonic Generations
Rayman Origins
Super Meat Boy (Digital Download)
Let me know if you think this thread is a good idea. Feel free to add to these lists as much as you'd like.

I would list the different Xbox360 collections that are available and also focus on the best titles that are exclusive to the 360.

I always like threads like this because I may learn something new; however, most people don't really flesh out the content. On most sites a thread of this type just turns into a list of games without any explanation as to what Game X is, what it's like, and why you should consider playing.pankakes123 wrote:I feel like this forum really needs this, especially since our awesome overlord Racketboy focuses on retro guides pretty much exclusively. 1- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim:

Skyrim is the latest entry in the long running Elder Scrolls series. It features [insert setting description]... It does X differently from its predecessors. It adds Y so that it feels like its own unique experience. [add another 4 to 6 sentences to give the reader a general summary of what to expect the game to be like].

Re: Racketboy Community Guide to the Xbox 360
If people want to write up descriptions for the games they are free too. In fact, I would encourage you do that before adding to the list. However, I simply have no time to do any write up on these games.
Re: Racketboy Community Guide to the Xbox 360
One thing that is absolutely crucial in these write-ups in multiplatformer games is for which system the game is best. This is needed now more than ever.
Re: Racketboy Community Guide to the Xbox 360
Personally, I'd agree with retrosportsgamer that focusing on exclusives might be better. Otherwise, if the PS3 equivalent is made, it'd just have much the same information. Could maybe do a third thread as a general "modern recommendations by genre" or some such thing.
Additionally, as something more specific to newer systems, detailing things like XBL, swapping HDDs, backwards compatibility, removable storage/backup, and so on might be valuable to some.

Re: Racketboy Community Guide to the Xbox 360
Seeing what's been done in the original Xbox scene, I'd love to see the homebrew and modifications made to the Xbox 360 in a couple of years. I could see it being a strong MAME machine, considering we know for sure it can run CAVE releases, for starters.BoringSupreez wrote:Yeah, this should be done about two years from now.dsheinem wrote:too soon

Re: Racketboy Community Guide to the Xbox 360
...? All I can say is that. The 360 is 7 years old now, and almost at the end of its life span. Hundreds, if you count downloadable then thousands of games have been released for it. The Star Wars Xbox 360 was released, and I'm assuming that was the system's swan song in terms of hardware. Now is the time for all the late gamers to pick up their 360s for cheap, while the system is still actually relevant and "new" as well. NOW is the perfect time.dsheinem wrote:too soon
