What makes Duke Nukem Forever so bad?

The game is like two dollars and I'm considering buying it out of curiosity. Seriously, why is it so bad? Gearbox always has great shooting gameplay, so is it the humor, the levels, the graphics? The game looks pretty good to me from what I've seen of it.

Just found the Balls of Steel Edition for 20 bucks on Amazon. Should I go for it?

Nothing makes it bad. Ignore the idiots lambasting it because it's not Call of Duty or generic modern shooter volume 2007 and just enjoy it for what it is, an FPS with Duke Nukem jokes and aliens to shoot at. There are some annoyances to be had like weird mini-games and stuff, but overall I found it to be one of the more enjoyable modern shooters I've played in years, but I'm not much into FPS.

Forever was exactly what I thought it would be, and I enjoyed it. It's not great by any means, but rather silly fun with the regular Nukem shenanigans.

I recently got this game for only $3 brand new at Best buy. Its pretty mediocre at best. I can tell you one thing, load times are BAD!!!

It's not great, it's rather crass, but it's reasonably fun, so worth the $2 or $3 bucks you are considering if you're just curious. Though your money is better spent on the original Duke Nukem 3D

The PC version wasn't bad, but it felt limited. The modern aspect of regenerative health and carrying only two weapons is sorely out of character for this game. I didn't dislike it so much as that I didn't like it as much as I wanted to like it.

I bought it from bruno for $5. I don't regret the purchase. I've sold a lot of other games since then and yet hung on to this. It's fun.

I didn't mind the regenerative health because painting it as Ego made it awesome in my mind. But I fully agree with you with regards to the weapon limits (and several of the weapons have really low ammo counts).
