You're better off buying a real Genesis than that thing. A PS2 can play 99% of PS1 games with no issues at all.
But with that you can now plug Sonic 3 into Sonic & Knuckles into Game Genie into RetroGEN into your SNES.

SNES.

A Saturn is super expensive to collect for, but if you get it modded, that $100 will be very wisely spent.

But then you have to figure out what to do with the pass-through AV connector from the 32x. We're not just trying to create the Leaning Tower of Pisa here; we want function.

Though I did a quick google and found that this adapter sends its own AV to the TV and just uses the SNES for power and controller input. Which is sad, since the Super Game Boy did the same thing (have the guts of the console inside a cart) and was fully self contained.

:/ It's really not that bad. Now I'm gonna go through and list all the <$25 games I like or would consider buying:
-Space Hulk
-NBA Jam TE
-Dark Savior
-Alient Trilogy
-Battle Arena Toshinden
-Bubble Bobble
-Baku Baku
-Crusader: No Remorse
-Clockwork Knight/2
-Last Bronx
-Gun Griffon
-Virtua Fighter Remix
-Virtua Fighter 2
-Fighters Megamix
-NiGHTs Into Dreams/Christmas NiGHTs
-Panzer Dragoon/Zwei
-Virtua Cop/2
-Street Fighter Alpha 2
-Darius Gaiden
-Galactic Attack
-Die Hard Trilogy
-MechWarrior 2
-Wipeout
-Blazing Dragons
-Pandemonium
-Sonic 3D Blast
-Tempest 2000
-X-Men: Children of the Atom
-Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
-Legend of Oasis
-Shinobi Legions
-Duke Nukem 3D
-Darkstalkers Revenge
-Norse by Norse West
-Magic Carpet
-Descent

No, not all of those games fit into the OP's preferences. No, not all of VGPC's listings are completely accurate. Yeah, I probably missed some titles, and a lot of these have better ports elsewhere. But I'll never discourage anyone who wants to get into Saturn.

Anyways, I'm currently leaning towards a Saturn, because it has a lot of games I'm interested in, and I'm getting into Sega.

If you're getting into Sega, why not consider a Genesis? Prices are on the low side, and there's a TON of exclusives and cool hidden gems.

I forgot to add that I need something durable, because there's four little kids living with me that will want to play the console. So, original model ps2 is out. I had one of those for about a week, and the disk tray snapped off.

If it's going to be seeing a lot of abuse, Saturns are solid but SNES were hewn from stone. And Saturn boxes have a nasty habit of cracking if you leave them anywhere but the shelf, along with the traditional limitations of disk-based media.

Some of the slim ps2 models are very reliable, though off the top of my head I can't remember exactly which ones. The one I had was amazing, but I sold it when I got my b/c ps3. Really with I hadn't...

It's not the cases I'm worried about, since I usually store them out of reach, and don't get them out unless I'm there to supervise/play
