I'm trying to figure this out too. Unless they're completely class specific, is there really any advantage to equipping X weapon over whatever else? Like if a sword does more damage than a wand, may as well equip the sword on a wizard? Seems kind of weird to me. I can't remember if D2 was like that.

In D3 all damage is based on your weapon damage. If you turn on detailed tooltips this is more obvious, as it lists what % each skill uses. In D2 you had a mixture of spells which didn't use your weapon and skills which did (compare frozen orb with whirlwind). A few classes have passives which give benefits based on the specific kind of weapon you're using, but otherwise if you have two weapons with the exact same DPS and stats then they both will do the same damage over time. Also note that cast speed is based on your attack speed, so a slow weapon vs. a fast weapon with the same DPS will have a different feel to it.

I've been enjoying this game a lot more since I started using exploding frogs and playing the Doctor like a melee.

Haha, yea?

I've been having issues with staying alive with my witch doctor. Died 4 times on Belial... haha.

With my monk I could just stand right in front of Belial without even moving to get away from any attacks and just beat the crap out of him. Perhaps when I learn more abilities my witch doctor will be better.

Having a pain in the desert against some of these special mobs with my DH.

If I remember right a lot of Act II is outside too, damn not good. I can handle dungeons better with advantages on the maps, but this...

I did solo the Butcher on Nightmare though and seemed a little underleveled, lol. One on one and I can do really good with my DH, but yeah lately packs of enemies are tearing me up. I might need to mess with my build. I like the Bola Shot (using the triple poison rune), but maybe I need to change that around.

My summons and the Templar have been enough to keep me alive so far. No real trouble on bosses, but that may change on the later acts.

Maybe I should mess with the familiars again myself. The Templar is good, but I need more distractions. My setup is usually:

1. Caltraps
2. Vault / Evasive Fire
3. Some heavy hitting Hatred attack, like Cluster Arrows or whatever
4. Shadow Power / Preparation, kind of messing around with this slot
Bola Shot
Rapidfire

I dunno. I guess if anyone has any DH tips for solo'ing Nightmare let me know. Admittedly I've been taking a break from the game since I kind of played way too much last week, lol.

Honestly, the fact that gems have no minimum level requirement is so hideously unbalanced that I don't even have to try anymore. I just throw down 1-2 Haunts and let my minions take care of the rest while I hoover up loot.

Ok, I can see how you died on Belial. Glad I partied up for that one.

Rapid Fire has the major disadvantage of making you have to stand still. You're better off using instant-cast stuff, like Impale, Elemental Arrow, Multishot, or Cluster Arrow. Also, don't neglect your defenses. If you can get your health and damage resistance up you'll find yourself much more survivable.

Hmm, yeah I was comparing my equipment to a friend on my list who had a DH my level, looks like I should put in some more purple gems. Impale I do often use a lot against bosses and stuff, but yeah maybe I'll switch out Rapidfire for Cluster Arrow or something instead.
