I loved XIII, XIII-2 was better, but FFXIII wasn't bad. In XIII-2, you could jump manually on the map, which I hadn't seen in FF games before (correct me if I'm wrong.)

I imagine by the time I eventually play FFXIII for myself my expectations will be so low that there's no way the game can disappoint me.

It convinced me not to buy a main line Final Fantasy game. I did not like XII at all but I still tried it. I used to love that series. Oh 90's where did you go?
Pretty much this for me too. I was expecting shit from the get-go via the trailers and the FF XIII demo/Advent Children blu-ray package I stupidly bought, but the levels of shit it delivered were off the charts.

It's really too bad they more or less scrapped Versus, that was always the real Final Fantasy XIII to me.

What an incredible selling point, that probably makes it the best FF ever.

Haha oh man great point. Seriously at this point, the wait has been so long I can't bring myself to care anymore. If it comes out or not, my interest is officially dead already.

Instead we'll probably get FFXIII-III before it and some other spinoffs. FFXIII-IIIDX 013 Duodialogs Seven Days 1 Week Moogle International Edition Extreme Crystablah.

Aside from the awful inverted camera controls, I thought ff12 was one of the best final fantasies. I love Ivalice and Akihiko Yoshida's artwork though, so I'm a little biased.

XII isn't bad in my book. I think it should've been called Vagrant Story II though, lol.

Final Fantasy VIII has Selphie use a cure spell on Squall in disc 2 in the prison.

XII isn't too bad but it doesn't feel much like a Final Fantasy game, at least not like a main entry in the series. I feel like it should have been named Final Fantasy: Ivalice or something, and been a spin-off focusing on Ivalice stuff. Vagrant Story II could work also. I really dislike the "the game plays itself!" battle system and found the story/characters quite boring, but overall it was playable. I never finished it though.

Is it just me or was basically everything in that game brown?

If I'm playing an RPG with a real time battle system, I strongly prefer a system where you can actually program your partner's behavior to one where you're relying on really dumb A.I.

I've never really thought of Final Fantasy as a series, at least not in the traditional sense, so the tone change didn't bug me. Plus, I'd rather have boring characters than characters that act like how they do in ff13.

...And now we've come full circle.
