Of all the theories I like the Squall's dead one. But it gives them way too much credit. The game is certainly just a mess beyond the first disc, lol.
Now that we're on endings... VII and VIII's are definitely among the most unsatisfying to me, but then again Zell eating hotdogs and stuff, that was pretty awesome. I'll give IX a lot of credit for having a good ending from the little I remember. VI isn't very rewarding either honestly, but it makes more sense than the others. V's was great, but overall I still think IV's is the best for sure.

I don't expect or even always like happy endings, but a lot of the FF endings are just poorly executed and leave a bit to be desired I'd say.
Yes that theory blew my mind away. Too bad it wasn't officially what happened xD

I don't know dude. At least FF8's for all the nonsense moments, was pretty to look at. 7 Didn't even have that for me :(. And yes "eyes on me" makes my heart melt. THERE I SAID IT. Rinoa I would never have let you go :'(.

6 is just so epic till that point (really every step you take in the WoR makes you feel like you are getting one step closer to the final battle, the last chance, the only hope the world has. It made me feel like the game had some epic build up to the final point) and such an amazing final boss fight (with perhaps the best FF villain (thank you English translation for that) ever), that the low tone ending (escaping from the final dungeon) suits it well. And for an ending which I last saw 11 years ago I still remember a lot of it :)

Now that you mention it, damn I hated Rinoa. Her and Aeris. Guess I just hated the love interests. lol

Who was the chick in FFIX, Dagger? Something like that, I actually liked her though.

Oh but wait, they aren't as bad as Yuna! A boring religious nut, a dumbo (Aeris), and Rinoa was so all over Seifer for 80% of the game I just completely hated her by the time she turned around.

I hated Rinoa till I remembered that she was a damn teenager. But then I hated her even more cause instead of being one of the cool/hot goth/rock chicks, she was obviously one of the annoying anime cliches for girls (and feminism marches on). I mean she was the leader of a fucking rebellion movement and she was living in a pink room (which was waaaaaaay too big for a train, and waaaaay too luxurious for what a rebel movement should have been able to afford xD), and her obsession for Squall came out of nowhere (other than the fact that he is hot, which mind you would have been enough reason for me if only JRPGs were mature enough to present hornyness without making the character a pervert).

She was kind of by the numbers. Freya was a muuuch better female character in that game. But at least Dagger did fill in the role of older sister to Vivi and love interest to a character like Zidane well.

Um....I think she stopped liking Seifer around the end of disk 1.

FFVIII - Time Compression. That is all.
Even the timelines in the movie Primer make more sense than in FFVIII :?

Well for all the complains about VII and VIII, I think X's story makes the least sense. Though X is also plagued by having the stupidest FF world ever.

I'd say X had a cool world, but maybe you're right about the convoluted story. "I'm dead but not" ... oh. Hated that stuff. lol

I didn't deal well with FFVI, unlike most folks, even though I beat it. It was actually the Esper system that totally destroyed the gameplay for me.

See, I didn't really see the "you are a dream" thing as a problem. It's a general extension of how summons work. Now, the fact that he comes back in the good ending of X-2, that strains credibility.

Because it broke the game or what? lol. I'd say FFVI-VIII are all equally abusable. Easiest JRPG's ever.

I just really didn't get along well with every character being able to cast almost every spell. You never needed a dedicated healer except for boss battles. EVERYONE could cure status effects. It was just irritating. By the very end of the game there were so few differences between the characters when it came to spellcasting. Sure, this one could heal a few more points of damage per spell, and this one has a slightly more damaging Ultima, but who cares? I kinda didn't. Grandia did this MUCH better. Sure, anyone can equip the earth element and start learning spells from it, but everyone learns a different selection of spells.

I like customization to a point, but RPGs that let you customize a character too much usually end up with too little distinction between characters in battle.
