ps3 Bioshock 2 not able to download update 1.04? HELP!

i bought bioshock 2 used for real cheap, i went to play it and sometimes it goes up til the initial loading screen before game play and just sits there saying loading forever, but most the time it will have the popup that a update 1.04 is required and when i hit ok it will freeze up anywhere between 1% and the furthest ive gotten it to go is 54% now i tried this probably 50 times. i googled it and found a few other people with the problem too but no one gave any solutions. Im using a 60gb backward compatible ps3. Im scared to just resell it on ebay and have them have the same issue and give me bad feedback.

Do you have to do the update? Can you skip it?

i should of mentioned that. yes , the game is unplayable unless i get it to work.. i can only get to the initial loading screen with the annoying elevator music and it just says stand by loading or something to that nature..

Before you get really upset about this update not working can you give us more information like wired or wireless internet? Try deleting the game data from ps3 hdd then try reinstalling Bioshock 2.

Are your ports opened?

If wireless try taking your ps3 to a friends house and try it with a wired connection.

There can be multiple reasons why it's not downloading and installing an update properly.

I't not the disc because the update is not on the disc so it has something to do with your internet.

What speed is you internet connection???

wireless internet but im within 5 feet of the source so its a perfect signal all the time, only one usb is used and thats for the external cooling fan, as we speak im trying to install an update on another game MLB 12 and its giving me trouble as well. maybe this is sony's way of making me have to buy the new slim? lol

update mlb 12 worked and updated fine. . hmmm i def tried bioshock like 50 times tho on different days so its still a problem.
