I'm helping. I'm being absolutely direct, but I'm not insulting (although some might feel insulted) and I don't call people nasty names (usually!).

Look at the Dreamcast4ever guy. He didn't like the criticism at first, but he really does make an honest effort.

This OP seems okay, just maybe new to the scene. He'll figure it out easily if he wants to.

I love Breetai's avatar, especially with his/her posting style
Chibi Maruko-chan wa cho kawaii desu! She's so cute and funny!

Thank you all for the responses and advices, I've learned a lot from you guys and I'm happy I've joined this forum :D
It's true, I'm new to the retro gaming scene as collector and i just found out that i don't really know how to look for fake cartridges.

KDub: I open it up and it doesn't need a picture, its fake :)

Breetai: Let me rephrase: "I have no clue how to look for fake gb games" and i also have no clue why have you taken it personally. You are a flame magnet, good thing that this is not my first hobby or the first forum I'm active on. Anyway, I've got your message, thanks.
I'm from Romania so my first language is Romanian

I do apologize for being harsh sometimes. I didn't take what you said personally.

Welcome to Racketboy. :D And yes, please excuse me as I am blunt sometimes. I'm interested to hear how retro gaming is in Romania, and how things were in maybe the 80s or 90s.

You are a flame magnet...
I know this was a criticism, but... wow, I live this phrase! It's awesome.

I sincerely hope you stick around.

Well I'll be as short as possible: I'm born in '81 and since december '89 when we got rid of communism i have only played video games on my ZX Spectrum produced in Romania (a HC 85 computer with a Z80 processor).
In the 90s arcade games appeared in bars and other locations and the console market was flooded by NES clones like "Terminator". It was rare to see a genuine Nintendo console, everybody had clones. I remember that I've seen the first Game Boy in '94 (running Gremlins 2) that's how rare the genuine consoles were.
Only after '98-'00 the console market normalized and original consoles were available to buy in stores (at least not as luxuries).
Gaming in general had suffered in Romania so is logical that now retro gaming is a rare philosophy... There are a few passionate fellas that collect old games but that's it. No stores, no exhibitions, nothing to sustain this hobby. :?

8) I think being from Romania and experiencing a whole different gaming culture, which western EU/US/JP products being very difficult to come by and clones being the common way to go, will be interesting for a lot of us to learn about. He might have a lot to offer if he is willing to share.

His English is fine as far as forum communication goes.

He still haven't passed my initiation, though. I'm just giving him a chance before he meets the main mod of Racketboy; Hen Rygrik. :)

Do you own any of the clone systems or have photos you can share? That would be very interesting.

Which systems, or clones of systems, were popular in Romania? How about the NES, Sega Master System, Mega Drive, Super Nintendo (SNES), PC Engine (Turbografx-16), etc.? Did you have clones of those?

The most popular console in the '90s was NES and of corse the clones made after it (Terminator 2). Later Playstation became very popular.
But consoles like GameCube, the first Xbox or any Sega where avoided by the sellers and the buyers... Why? I don't know, maybe the prices, or the lack of promotions/commercials. I guess that the Romanians where poor informed in that time.

I've found some pictures with the Terminator 2, a NES clone . It's not mine, a friend has it:

And here are some games for the Terminator 2 console:

Agreed. I'd love to see your personal collection.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. Here's to hoping you post in the food thread as well (http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 0&start=80) and share many Romanian recipes.
