Final Fantasy VII HD (PC mod)

Post by noiseredux »

For over a decade fans have been modding the PC version of Final Fantasy VII. There have been countless updates to the monster and character models, world map, cutscenes, music, and battle stages during the past 14 years. So many, in fact, that the hardest problem is figuring out which combination of the hundreds upon hundreds of mods will get the best graphical results.

While several mod collections like Final Fantasy VII Ultima Edition and Final Fantasy VII Remix have come out over the years, it only takes a few months for the included mods to become obsolete. Thus enters the mod managing program Bootleg.

After installing a retail copy of the game (and the proper patches/drivers to make it run on current operating systems), Bootleg provides you with several helpful presets for the best possible presentation and then shows you where to download the mods you will need. Once you have all the mods downloaded, Bootleg will patch the game into all its remastered splendor.

Hate to be the downer, but good job ruining the music and sounds. :|

Doesn't look bad though, much better than other silly mods I've seen for it.

Now only if SE would stop publishing and splattering there name on all these joker games and start releasing some quality titles by themselves, you know like a FF7 remake, even though i would rather have a FF6 3D remake more, or a new FF that isnt all futuristic and metrosexual.

They'd probably royally fuck up an FF7 remake.

I think it's pretty much inevitable though. FF7's Square's biggest cash cow.

Finally, someone said it... I think an HD remaster is all I'd ever want (basically this mod here!). Because if they go and full on remake the game, a lot of the mechanics and gameplay is surely going to be changed which is the last thing I'd want. I mean, a remake would still be pretty awesome and better than anything they've done this decade pretty much, but I'm sure they'd still mess it up. also who wants to hear this game with voices? That'd be very awkward after growing up without it all this time. I dunno...

Yeah, but anyone who didn't grow up with the game will see it for the crap it is.

Without nostalgia, the game would not hold up with just an HD filter.
