I have to make a video game themed website...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

As others have mentioned, what is the exact description of the assignment? What class are you taking?

Is it a website 101 class and you just have to make any old website?

Okay, I'll bump this thread at the end of August.

Pretty much. It's a HTML/XHTML/CSS class. My final project is to make a website of any topic. I chose video games. :)

Maybe get fancy with linking related information. For instance I'm looking at NES Contra, but I can click on Konami and now I'm listing Contra, Jackal, Contra Hard Corps and Axelay. Link companies, series, or perhaps musicians. That sort of thing.

This. Go for a Tim&Eric Awesome-esque "as bad/cheesy/corny/amateurish as possible on purporse"-vibe :D
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

There might be a lot of people in the class that are unaware of the older Retro consoles. I find it interesting on what is a new game on a Mobile Phone has its roots in the older consoles, platforming for example. Maybe you could do a comparison of similar games of the old and new?

Do it like a Geocities page. Find some cheap spinning sparkly unicorn gifs and a crap star sparkly background. Write about how much you love being wiccan and how terrible the church is for burning witches 500 years ago. Make a multitude of spelling and grammatical errors. Take us back to '97, baby! Woo!

The early internet style is a fun idea, but for grading purposes, I don't think it's a good idea. If your prof doesn't find the joke funny, he might just assume you suck at internets.

I like retro/Geocities idea because it's gonna be about retro games... plus I love the look (I used to have several Geocities pages... and a couple on Angelfire and Tripod...).

But yeah, I don't wanna be so obnoxious that I piss off the prof.

I'm sure we've all seen this:
