Pretty sure that's still a +1, even if it is coolMrHealthy wrote:+2 mjmjr25
Yes, plus 2, assuming I can do that. Bought a mystery box off him, and there was an ever so slight delay on when he could ship and he threw in 2 extra games free of charge for the hassle! (It wasn't a hassle at all)
He is a great seller. Will buy again in the future.

He also ate 15 bucks on shipping himself. If those combined don't qualify as an extra +1 then what does? A standard transaction where a person pays, and then recieves a game is a +1. If going above and beyond by giving extra games, and making me pay less isn't considered better customer service anymore then I fear what people expect from excellent customer service.
I mean, the deal I did with him is by a large ammount the best one I've done here recently. Why should the standard / mediocre deals be graded with the exact same score his was?

Mike's cool, but it is one per transaction. Can't change the rules otherwise it isn't fair to people who might have gotten an extra in the past for being super cool. But that's what the story embellishment is for.

Yeah, it is one per transaction/arranged trade. It is impossible to quantify what deserves a +2 or +3 or +42 as different people will have different interpretations. A +1 simply means that an arranged transaction was satisfactory, and additional qualitative feedback can be found in the thread.Hobie-wan wrote:Mike's cool, but it is one per transaction. Re: Transaction Feedback - Totals - Updated 2012-03-12
Then the entire system is flawed. One could easily do a bunch of tiny mediocre transactions to quickly build up feedback making it seem like they might be a person that goes above and beyond. While the people who do go above and beyond sell more slowly making it seem like they are not as good of a seller because the feedback isn't as high.
Also, if we had broken up the shipment into two payments (equalling the same ammount) and two shipments, he would get a +2. Which doesn't seem very fair. As it stands now, the system rewards mediocre sellers, while great sellers have no incentive to be great sellers.
Even if you didn't want to allow multiple number additions then we need some way to indicate a neutral score along side the + and - scores. A ~1 or something. Saying it was completely standard, or had minor issues. While a +1 would be for good for great and -1 would be for bad or terrible.
I for one won't be putting any weight on this feedback anymore now that I realize how broken it is. I probably won't bother to add to peoples feedback either.

This thread is 687 pages long. Do you think its really possible to find qualitative feedback in here with any ease.and additional qualitative feedback can be found in the thread

Please code us something better to use. We'd be happy to have it. Something like what exists over at shmups.org, which has links to people's name with feedback comments would be ideal. I don't know how to do that, and no one else has ever stepped up to create one. Before I created this thread, we didn't even have any totals, so it is better than it was.MrHealthy wrote:Then the entire system is flawed.

Why a +2? Why not a +3? Or +4? The ~1 I can see, but I think we're moving far too much into subjective territory. Who's to say what you call a ~1 I would call a +1? Keeping to one point per transaction keeps it fair, and leaving out the ~ makes keep it as objective as possible. I just think it would unnecessarily complicate things.

No system will ever be perfect. Do you put stock in ebay feedback? Shill bidding happens all the time there too. There's a place to look up someone's total but you don't know any more details unless you comb there either. Yes it is easier as it is all for that one user, but since nearly everyone just posts useless crap like "AAAAAAA++++++ best seller evar! Would do business again" for feedback it is hard to find real information on users there too.MrHealthy wrote:Then the entire system is flawed. Even online ratings for businesses and products are full of shill feedback and people who are paid to write fake reviews. I mean come on, people are studying how to detect fake reviews it is so bad.

But yes we all agree this system we're using isn't the best. Manually adding up totals for people frankly sucks ass. But it's the best we have right now and it is better than nothing. As Dave said, feel free to suggest helpful solutions in the suggestions thread. We're all ears.

The shmups.org system is great, by far the best of the forums I visit. Ease of use is tops.
Nintendoage is pretty good, fairly easy to access and leave feedback.
Neo-geo is difficult by design, if you want to leave pos. or neg. they make you work for it, you have to find the original deals URL, among other things.
I'd love a better system here, but I have no clue how to go about building the system, so for now, this does work.
Yes, it is frustrating at times. I know s1mple and have done a couple very large deals on here, a one deal was $500 in each direction, the next was almost 1K each. We commented on the irony of our +1's being followed up by, " +1 soandso - sold me a gameboy game."
But, it is what it is. Some guys have +30 feedback and it is all from purchases, so I would still have hesitation buying from that person. Whereas regginmad already has +4 and all very positive reviews, so that +4 means a lot more than the +30, to a buyer.
My best advice to anyone using the b/s/t, is to hit up some of the regulars, just ask them in a pm, "Hey, have you ever dealt w/this person? How did it go? How did he pack? etc".
As always, if in doubt, don't do the deal. When the deal is done, honest constructive feedback is always best. If there was an issue or a concern, be legit though, give the person an opportunity to know about your concern via pm. If the concern is not alleviated or the situation still leaves you a bit sour, then it should candidly be explained in this thread.

If I could I would. But just because I point out flaws in the system doesn't make me suddenly responsible for it. And its not like I was just complaing either, I offered 2 different ideas to help improve the system and make it less flawed. Hell, if we implemented one of them I would even be willing to help update the OP if I could. But I can't.dsheinem wrote:Please code us something better to use. We'd be happy to have it. And yes, I realize we didn't have feedback, and that its better now then no feedback. I'm not trying to be ungrateful for the work you put into this thread, but should we really just say "Thats good enough" when it can be even better. Sure it won't be perfect if we implement the multiple +'s or -'s or add ~'s because of all the old feedback still being there. But as you said, it would be better then it was.
