Sega has serious issues these days. It's honestly a wonder we got a game as good as Generations and Colors (I'm much more partial to generations, it trimmed the fat that still existed in colors).

I think it's an issue of bean counters, a bass ackwards marketing department, a concept that's hard to translate to 3D, limited resources (time, money), and a development team that's either disinterested from the beginning, or that becomes disinterested after the barrage of bullshit from the other issues I listed.

The marketing has really pushed this whole "modern sonic" concept, as if consumers can't grasp a character that has gone through changes. I think that may be one of the biggest reasons why they didn't pull a megaman 9 and create a "new" genesis game. Go back and play Sonic Adventure, the game where they first introduced "modern" sonic. He honestly looks pretty much like classic sonic.

These issues go all the way back to 2004 or so, when they fired the first set of voice actors so that they could keep things consistent between the games and the Sonic X cartoon. Of course as soon as the cartoon stopped airing, they fired everyone again and got new voice actors.

It's as if they're trying so hard to protect their characters' image, that they forgot they're supposed to be making video games. GOOD video games.

I'm not sure why they've mishandled him so much, considering Nintendo has done very well by Mario.

Seriously, let Nintendo or Retro Studios develop a Sonic game. It'd probably be glorious.

(then of course, we'll have people complaining that it's "the same formula" and crap). :P

I'd argue for Naughty Dog. Playing Jak 2 there were parts I was thinking, "these guys really wish they were making a sonic game".

Sonic 4 Ep. 2 My thoughts

Post by dreamcast4ever83 »

I love Episode 1 and all, but as much as I enjoy playing it, it's easy to see why others bashed it. It was a good Sonic game, but we were expecting a Sonic 4. And since the game was composed of alot of materials of other sonics. I can see why people changed were not happy. I personally thought it was fresh new and a fun game but not the best...

What's important about Episode 2 is that it's Sonic 4 I have been waiting for! It's complete with all-new zones, Tails, catchy music (better the the first) and even more elements that made the Genesis Sonics so great .

Some will bash what i say and that's fine what's funny is that i think alot of these people never played it just tried a demo looked up a review and said it sucked based on nothing but I got news for ya just because reviewers bashed it does not make it bad seriously get a mind of your own.

Sega's second attempt at Sonic 4 is more than just an improvement. This is a contender for the best of 2d sonic games. The level design is brilliant, the graphics are beautiful, the physics engine was overhauled and perfected. They did everything they promised and more. Lets hope the players follow up on there promise by buying and supporting Sega's hard work. Not once did I ever get caught on a hill or stop dead in my tracks going through a loop in Episode 1. Everything was polished.

Although I will say the game is a little short, but It's a fantastic ride while it lasts. The boss fights are amazing and epic, the multiplayer is a very welcomed! using Tails for team attacks at will is genius, the special stages are an awesome and a love letter to Sonic 2, And if you got ep.1 Sega thanks us by letting play an exclusive metal sonic levels! ....I couldn't possibly praise this game enough. Sega has really been great to there fans lately, and this is no exception. The only thing i could ask more is that there was a few more stages and story cuts. This game is a must-have. 4.5 stars.

Alot of people will disagree with me, Troll me and hate on this game but I think its cause as adults we have lost imagination. If all these people who hate this game played it as kids they would have loved it. There trying to live up to the expectations of there childhood like they felt while playing the originals but this will never happened. The great game is there but The imagination of youth has gone away but not for me!! I love this game and I love sega Thank you For listening and I'll be lined up for Ep.3 if you get enough support. :)

Crash Bandicoot's "beta name" was "Sonic's ass". But no, that wont happen. Naughty Dog only does one franchise per console. They should buy the rights to do Crash Bandicoot and make a Crash game that doesnt blow, not temper with some one else's product (and I seriously doubt that they are even intrested in making a game that's part of a franchise they didnt create)
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

So he could prove how much of a Sega fan he is, tell people they are wrong again and because he got upset that people didn't like the game in the other thread.

Dude, opinions and all. . . but the music was abysmal. Not only is it bad, but it's just, shockingly bad. When the reviews said it was annoying and repetitive I didn't take them seriously, until I heard it.

I know it's not going to happen. It was just a "wouldn't it be cool if" type situation. Rare and Nintendo obviously aren't going to be making Sonic games either.

Also, the one franchise per console thing is incorrect. It sort of turned out that way, but it's not some hard rule for them. They actually were in the planning stages with a Jak 4, but it didn't pan out. Also, their next game for PS3 is a brand new franchise.
