Need a (J)RPG recommendation for the PSP
I'll have to sit about 14 hours in a plane/train during the time span of 3 days (and do a lot of sitting/waiting besides that) in 2 weeks, so before that I need to find me a lengthy RPG game for the PSP that will keep me entertained. So far the only game that looks worth while is Tales of Eternia. I'm looking for a more oldschool looking (J)RPG, SNES/PS1-style with beautiful scenery like in these screenshots. No ugly 3D or "realism" please. So, is there anything better than Tales of Eternia on the system for my taste? Preferably something with turn based combat, but I dont mind real time combat as long as it's fun and the rest of the game is good.

Lunar: SSH is a good one; FF IV: the complete collection is a redone GBA FF IV, not the DS FF IV, there is Star Ocean 1 and 2.

Breath of Fire III was ported and you can import the EU version.

Crimson Gem Saga is a favorite of mine for PSP, 2D old school goodness. Likeable cast, solid music composition, and pretty good writing with a fairly engaging story. There's also Half Minute Hero, which is a parody RPG more or less, but it's very entertaining.
I second the recommendations on the ports, and will also bring up the Valkyrie Profile port. You can't go wrong with anything that's been mentioned in the thread so far really.

Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics are great.
...I have to second Valkyrie Profile. I have no choice.

Re: Need a (J)RPG recommendation for the PSP
There are tons of classic JRPGs from the PSone on the PSN that you can download to your PSP. A lot of them are considered to be some of the best RPGs ever, and some of them are pretty expensive for old used copies, so the usual 6 bucks that they cost is more than fair in my book. Plus you can transfer them to the PS3 (if you have one) and continue playing them on your TV.
NES, SNES, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GCN, Wii, PS3, 360, GB, GBC, GBA, GBA SP, PSP 3000, and 3DS XL

Re: Need a (J)RPG recommendation for the PSP
Some one snagged the copy of Eternia from me on the last few seconds of the auction so I got Valkyrie Profile Lenneth and Lord of the Rings tactics instead. I was thinking about getting Crimson Gem Saga but I could only get it from USA for a reasonable amount (some people are asking 80-100 euros for a copy!) and since there would be a risk that it wouldn't arrive before my trip, I wont take any chances. I am definetly going to buy some of these games later on though.
I've got to say that I find it surprising how expensive and hard to find many of these recently published PSP games are!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
