There are also custom levels, speed-runs, etc... which add to the game. I've unlocked a number of them, but I haven't seriously attempted any speed-runs. Being able to do so, though, definitely takes skill. And the medallions? Why not? That's like beating Sonic without getting the chaos emeralds.

I hate custom levels in platformers. Even the ones that floated to the top in Super Meat Boy were incredibly poorly balanced compared to the developer's originals. Sure, there's plenty of extra content, but I didn't find it particularly compelling.

Ooph, I started playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 and discovered that it has been way too long since I last played a fighting game. The combo system no longer feels right, and I much prefer pressing forward and a single button to throw as opposed to Alpha 3's direction and two attack buttons combo, which is harder to pull off on the pad that I'm using. While I have not played a Street Fighter in a while, this one just does not feel comfortable to me, which I suppose is why I haven't beaten it before.

I will keep playing though, just not as regularly as I probably should to become proficient. Castlevania 64 calls, after all.

Burnout Revenge is probably the high point of the series.

oh man I love Alpha 3. Once you get into the zone, it's just an amazing and fast and fluid game. Which port are you playing?

+1

I find many people say that Burnout 3 is the highlight, but I agree, Revenge took it that extra level, especially if you can get the 360 version. I imagine there is still an online community, that game is excellent online and Burnout Paradise just pales in comparison. I'm intrigued by Dominator however, I heard very little when it was released. What sets it out from the other Burnouts?

I'm mildly interested in Dominator as well, especially the PSP version. It looked like a continuation of the 3/Revenge formula (I agree that Paradise was somewhat lacking) but the fact that it wasn't made by Criterion immediately makes me wary. Criterion is one of the only EA developers I hold in any regard anymore.

Burnout 3 and Revenge had the great idea of using menus to jump in and out of tasks, races, crashes etc. Paradise made me drive to each one. That immediately put me off, it was like it was trying to be Test Drive Unlimited.
Yeah Criterion and also EA Big. I loved the NBA Street titles, although Homecourt was great it didn't have as much replay value as the first 3. On a sidenote, are the NFL Street games as good as the NBA ones?

I own Dominator. The biggest differences from the other Burnout games is that it drops 'Crash Mode' and it re-introduces the actual Burnout mechanics, which had last been seen in Burnout 2.
