My current Wii is a new model, so no Gamecube compatibility. I want that.

So that's why I will buy another one.

That or $90 GC component cables, am I right? ...

I went the "both" route. Launch model Wii and afterwards purchased a separate GC (along with GB Player) and component cables.

Link to thread to choose between Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana:
http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 11&t=33843

I was going to start playing Secret of Mana very soon, but now I have second thoughts. I might play Trigger instead.

Decision was made based on that I hate turn based RPG and like Action RPG. I also hate random encounters(I never or ever will understand the fun in fighting 15 battles any way you go or road you walk to any destination in RPG games, waste of time)

They're both pretty lame, actually. I've played through both. CT has superior presentation and music, and the battles are more complex but less difficult. Secret of Mana is still incredibly easy - the only challenge comes from keeping teammates alive while they get stuck on rocks or whatever. If you want a cool SNES action RPG, Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean are cool.

So I used the last of my Amazon credit to pre-order The Last Story... should I not have?

I am currently only 20hrs into Xenoblade. I still have FF9, 12, and 13 to beat along with the PS2 and 3 Star Ocean games... I didn't want to miss out on a short run of the last "good" Wii game and then want it years later when it costs tons of money.

I don't know dude. I sold it because I don't like keeping any games I am not going to replay in the future (even if they are going to be huge collector's items in the future). So if you have the space, it's a good investment for a future "Wii collection". But if you don't care about that, I think you will be disappointed with the game.

I can see where he's coming from. I don't care for Chrono Trigger really and the original Secret of Mana isn't anything to write home about. I wouldn't go as far as calling either of them lame but I think there are much better RPGs for the system. Granted I haven't completed either of them, out of the two I found Secret of Mana to be more entertaining.

Huh... I had no idea new Wii models weren't compatible with GC games. Is there any reason not to sell that one for a GC-compatible model? I don't know much about differing Wii models.

There is absolutely no reason to keep a non-GC Wii if you ever intend to play GC games on your Wii (and over component is cheaper too).
It's just a cost-cutting measure by N and does nothing for the gamer/consumer.
