Dark souls and demons souls too.

Should eve online really make the list? I thought all you ever see of your character was just like a mugshot. Although my roommate does have a character that looks just like hunter s thompson so I don't know then.

I don't actually play EVE Online, but I saw something about the character creation tools online and they looked particularly cool.

No one's mentioned The Sims yet. Is that too obvious to make the cut? :D

I think the Madden games might have it too. At least I think I remember making my own character for Superstar mode in 06...

All sorts of racing games pop into my head to but I guess those don't really count. This seems harder than it should be...

EDIT: Oh! How about The Movies?

The Saints Row series! That is not on the list yet.

Also Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

I could swear there was a fighting game for N64 that let you build your own characters.

You're right. I just scanned the N64 release list on Wikipedia for "fighting" games and couldn't find it, but I distinctly recall a fighting game that let you create your own fighters. I thought it was Fighters Destiny but the Wikipedia page doesn't reference character creation at all... it was super, super in depth, too. You create your character's appearance, and then you had the option to create all of the animations for their attacks and whatnot. I can't, for the life of me, remember what game it is, though.

Also, I'm not big on MMORPGs, but the recent Star Trek Online MMORPG has a ridiculously flexible character creation system. It lets you create not only from the pool of regular and rare Star Trek aliens, but you can create your own species, too. The options are pretty damn flexible, pretty much only restricting you to a humanoid character (though my character was almost so disproportionate that it wasn't humanoid).

Pity it was a crap game.

Deadly Arts! It was called Deadly Arts- I couldn't find it initially because it's more well known my it's ridiculous Japanese name, G.A.S.P!! Fighters' NEXTream.

The best console-based one I can think of
PS2 - Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color
A PS2 game with a full 3D model editor. I've been wracking my brain for that game where some guy made a Fuchikoma and another guy made that Yotsuba Kaiyodo/boxhead guy fully perfected and running them around the field. The videos are not available anymore, and my backups seems to be gone too, but having tried the controls a while back they're actually pretty usable. I finally figured out the game is called Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color. It's kinda pokemon-ish, but indeed has a full 3D character creation tool built into it made for use with a PS2 Dualshock controller. The Sequel - Graffiti Kingdom does more I think. I really wish I could post the videos of what people had done with it, but they're not available on youtube despite my best efforts. I'll post them when I find 'em.

Also there's Scribblenauts 1&2 (preorder chicken hats!)

There's something to be said about the car customization in various car simulations too. I can't find that really good video I watched where some guy turned a default car into the best decaled car I've ever seen realtime in the NFS World editor, so I picked 2 of the best I could find that show some of that stuff:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdi4E44ZzuU
The one I wanted to show was so much better than these, showing the precision of the tools available and what can be done using mostly basic bezier shapes no less, but there's only so much of that music I can take...

There's the golf games too. I don't have much experience in these, but I was able to create a reasonable facsimile of my father down to age, facial shape, hair, blemishes, weight, height, body type and clothes in Tiger Woods Golf for PC. It looks like him to a tee.

I was going through that list too. I thought it was fighters destiny or something, too.
