Hi all, I recently tried to sell my lovely switchless-modded JP Saturn (bought from Console Passion) cos I needed some money quick, so I sold it on eBay. Unfortunately, although I had checked it just before it was sent, the buyer told me the audio and video weren't working, so I sent the guy a refund and he posted the whole shebang back to me.
Anyway, could you guys let me know if you've seen this before and if it's fairly easy to fix? The buyer was correct, there is nothing when I connect my (s-video) cable to the TV again (exactly the same setup as I had before I shipped it out). By the way, the unit appears to power on fine.
Is it possible that it got knocked in transit and that could have disconnected the output somehow? I've opened it up, but being a noob I haven't removed the power board to see if there's a disconnection there just in case I make things worse.
Any help and advice you can give is most appreciated! I've decided to keep it again if I can get it working - thanks!
***also I couldn't find this subject posted before, but if I missed it apologies to the mods!***

Maybe they tried to plug it into a UK wall socket? That could fry the power board or something...

The OP said that it powers on so that's not the case.theclaw wrote:Maybe they tried to plug it into a UK wall socket? That could fry the power board or something...

I don't really have any suggestions, but did you make sure they didn't swap out your working one with a non-working on?

Aaaagh! Unfortunately I never took it apart before I sent it so I can't tell, but having said that now that I did it's got patches of rust all over the sheet metal and the stickers no longer hold the modchip board in place, but all that could be par for the course I guess - I have asked Console Passion if they'll have a look and maybe they'll come back and say "that wasn't us!"o.pwuaioc wrote:I don't really have any suggestions, but did you make sure they didn't swap out your working one with a non-working on?

Re: PLEASE HELP! Saturn video and audio problems
Possible, I guess, but the buyer used a scart cable on it which didn't work, and the s-video cable I have with it worked before I sent it off. According to the buyer the only cable that worked was a PAL RF cable and only then it came out black and whiteJoeAwesome wrote:Could it be the a/v cable?

You know, I'd still check that anyway. There's no telling what could have happened if it was fed 220. Maybe a freak occurrence that the LED is still getting power though other stuff is dead.ApolloBoy wrote:The OP said that it powers on so that's not the case.theclaw wrote:Maybe they tried to plug it into a UK wall socket? Re: PLEASE HELP! Saturn video and audio problems
Yeah I think that's what happened - the guys at Console Passion said that's the most likely occurrence. I asked the buyer but he said he used a stepdown converter so I can't really accuse him and ask for recompense as I don't have firm proof, but I'm interested in trying to get it fixed - does anyone know if I can swap out the boards perhaps? Would it need to be another JP Saturn or will a PAL one do? Having said that I might be able to get another JP one (non-modded) which I could butcher fairly cheaply. For the record, the LED comes on and the disc spins, but whether the disc is read or not I'm unsure, it seems kind of quiet!Hobie-wan wrote:You know, I'd still check that anyway.
