I'd love to get one, but they seem scarce.

Wow. The Capcom version looks so badass. I just recently got the SNK version CIB.ujnhunter wrote:D-pad fighter here... sticks just don't feel comfortable to me. So the Ultimate Fighting Game Controller? Well, it appears on the Ultimate Fighting Game Console, the almighty Dreamcast! Ascii's Fighter Pad FT! Which came in three different flavors! Original, Capcom & SNK! It's basically a Japanese Saturn 6 button pad for the Dreamcast.
Re: favorite controller for fighting games
The ASCII Fighter pad is pretty good. I have one, but the dpad is getting kinda loose. The Saturn JPN pad is the best pad around for fighters, hands down. The Saturn US pad actually isn't too bad. The shape isn't perfect and the shoulder triggers are a pain, but I don't know any fighter that actually needs the triggers. The dpad is actually almost as nice as the JPN pad and while the top row buttons are a little awkward feeling, once you adjust they contrast nicely against the bottom row by feel and become pretty natural.
There's something to be said for a joystick with nice big buttons, though. The JPN Saturn Arcade Stick is rockin', but the clickers on my stick are wearing down a little. I outta see about getting it refurbished... There's a PSX stick that's actually pretty good too and it was released here in the US.

This is my baby. It's made with quality Korean arcade parts and it's also dual modded for Xbox 360 and PS3, and will also work on PC.
It feels a lot different from a Japanese stick but it works great for 3D fighters.
I definitely recommend it if your into Tekken and Soul Calibur.
Re: favorite controller for fighting games
I recently got a Saturn controller, but it doesn't work that well with Mortal Kombat for the PS3. My favorite controller for this game is the Hori Fighting Commander 3 Pro, I like the large buttons, the traditional cross-shaped d-pad and the option to switch the L-R buttons.
The controllers I own are
PS2 Dualshock
PS3 Dualshock
Hori Fighting Commander 3 Pro
Saturn USB Pad
Saturn PS2 Pad.
Can you recommand me a pad that should work well with MK9? No MadCatz FightPads, I hate those.

Snes standard control pads. This my all time favorite, and not only for fighting games.

Egads, a couple of you are crazy. The SNES and PS1 pads (even the DualShock) are pretty stinky for fighting games except the Mortal Kombat-style games that rely more on directional taps and less on circular motions. I played more than my fair share of Street Fighter II on the SNES with the stock bad, but I never got any good at the game until I graduated to the Saturn.

Put in a few dozen hours on Guilty Gear PSP and you won't be able to complain about any other D-Pad ever again.
