so me and dsh were talking in another thread and I was thinking I might completely revamp my list. Instead of doing all PS2 titles, I might just mix things up. I've recently started dabbling in some PC gaming for one thing, so I was considering playing the PC version of Indigo Prophecy rather than the PS2 version. I was also thinking about adding Cave Story -- a game I've started on PSP in the past, but never got very far in. And I feel like if I start to really think about some PC games I've never gotten around to playing I could easily flesh out a list that excites me more than the one I have going now.

EDIT: so uh... suggestions are cool too.

I know I'm the vocal minority here, but I loathe Cave Story.

There's some exceedingly good shmups on the PC: Jamestown is gorgeous, Tyrian 2000 is free on GoG (or it was...) and I'm thinking about picking up Crimzon Clover from Rancor.

I've put at least an hour in, and enjoyed it so I think I'll disagree with you most likely.

Now you're talking. Jamestown I got as a gift from dsh but had a screw-up that I'm working on straightening out with Steam. Tyrian 2000 I got from GOG yesterday. Not super impressed on my first attempt though. Crimzon Clover is definitely on my want-list as well (from Rancor, haha).

I liked the first hour of Cave Story too, but I've never been so happy to put a game behind me. I was motivated to beat it, but it's riddled with frustrating design decisions. There's one particular section where the game punishes you for exploring by denying you the opportunity for one of the best items in the game (thankfully I avoided this thanks to a friend's warning.)

Tyrian is definitely a very relaxed and basic shmup... I like it because of the ship upgrades and the campaign structure, and if you take the time to read the story parts it's hilarious. It's definitely a very PC game as opposed to the shmup's arcade roots.

I agree with sabrage, having recently finished a run-through of Tyrian 2000. It can be quirky and bizarre, but it is definitely humorous and offers a nice mix of levels with varying challenges. It feels like it features a solid difficulty curve for those of us who don't play many shmups, such as myself.

Anyway, I will start my summer challenge as soon as I finish Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, which should be pretty soon since I reached the final dungeon this morning.

I am late to the party, but hopefully not so late as to be unfashionable.

Here is my list, in no particular order:

1. Hotel Dusk Room: Room 215 (NDS)
2. Ecco the Dolphin (GBA port)
3. Final Fantasy II (GBA port) COMPLETE
4. Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii)
5. Starfox 64 (N64)
6. Sonic CD (NGC port)
7. Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (Intellivision - NDS port) COMPLETE
8. Guardian Heroes (SS)
9. Galactic Attack (SS)
10. Decathlete (SS)

Not all of them are "classics", but I think that I can complete all of them by the end of September if I try really hard. (Although, achievement of my goal will be delayed significantly if I obtain either The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword or Xenoblade Chronicles...)

Well, just finished Mystic Quest, so it is time to start on my summer list! I guess Castlevania 64 is first, though I might throw in a little Alpha 3 later for fun.

I'll be jumping in on this as well. Start date will be Friday, since I take the last of my finals tomorrow. I guess I'll post a list when I get a chance to pick ten games.

Well I've made it all the way to World 7-1 in Super Mario Bros.

I hope to be able to beat it my next play-through.

Also, I've gotten 3 pieces of the Triforce in the Legend of Zelda.

MAGICAL BOOMERANG!!!!
