Diablo 3 release announced - May 15th
Re: Diablo 3 release announced - May 15th
So how is it? I surprised myself by not pre-ordering it or even thinking about buyin it today. And I loved the first two games. Just trying to avoid that addiction so I can play other games.

I'm pretty sure you're in the minority on that one.

I'm enjoying it. I don't like the art style as much as the previous titles (A little too WOW-ey) but the game is fun.
Re: Diablo 3 release announced - May 15th
I'm liking it more and more the further I get into it, the art style is different than D1 and D2, but still excellent, some of the backgrounds look painted almost. It's really easy to find and play with friends, and jump into the action.
If you have a problem with it being always online, thats a valid complaint, don't buy it then, but if that doesn't bother you I recommend it.

I too am quite enjoying it. I have not "felt" the online stuff at all - it feels like I am playing a single player game and I haven't been kicked off, unable to access server, etc. I've gotten just a little past where I understand the Beta ended, which puts me at about half way through the first act and several hours in.
I have already spent more time with this Diablo than I have with any other game in the series (I know, I know). It seems that, once you get past the massive whining about the online stuff, most veterans of the series find it to be an exceptional game as well.
What's everyone playing as? I went with a Wizard class character, and I am really digging the ranged attacks.

I don't enjoy renting games so I'm not gonna bother with this one. I'd like to see a console port eventually but it's probably not gonna happen.

YES I AM RENTING A GAME. PERFECT ANALOGY.
Re: Diablo 3 release announced - May 15th
The "renting a game" analogy comes directly from Steam's user agreement, which directly identifies the consumer as a "Subscriber" and all game purchases as "Subscriptions." I'm sure that other DDS use similar terminology, but I wouldn't know because I use them very rarely. It really doesn't apply to Diablo III, so I don't know where that statement came from.
