I need help with my Original Gameboy!

Post by Smoky111 »

So a few months back I got a gameboy for 5 bucks at a thrift store. It was badly corroded, so I cleaned it off and then put fresh batteries in. It would not start up at all. I found my universal ac adapter so now I'm trying that, and when I start it up when plugged it, I hear a buzzing sound, after a while the gameboy start up sound, and then more buzz. Occasionally when I turn it on the screen will flicker before doing this. I took it apart and it appears to be okay on the inside.

back in the day I used some generic Gameboy A/C plug.

And it always made a buzzing sound. Sometimes low, sometimes higher.

I dont know if there ever was an official plug for a GB.

Its possible that it's interference by plug. I had an unofficial plug so it may not fall under FCC/manufacturing standards.

Try the gameboy with regular batteries or rechargables and see if theres a difference.

Rechargables are pretty cheap nowadays.
