You get to scan them in, giving you the idol (think SSB trophy) of it, 100 hearts (the currency, and on the higher difficulties you can get that many from one enemy alone, making that part useless) and a camera symbol next to the idol to show that you got it (you can also get them by using eggs). The real perk is that there's an unrelated metagame where you get to battle the cards, as each one has invisible health, attack, speed, and type stats.

couldn't you just scan them, and make a page of compiled QR codes?

I doesn't use QR, it uses a colored design in the bottom left. Yes, you can just cheat, but I'm getting them for collectibility reasons.

I got a free pack with a magazine here. I got: Shrip (enemy), Merenguy (enemy), Shelbo (enemy), Knuckle Staff (weapon), Boom Orbitars (Weapon) and Three Sacred Treasures. How do you know if a card is rare?

I don't actually own the game yet, so I dunno how good these are!

I got the game today and got the set of cards that was included. This time I got: Pit, Palutena, Magnus, Twinbellows the Ferocious, First Blade and Violet Palm.

Edit: Been playing this for a while now,and it's awesome. Pandora's stage was really cool, and the banter between the Characters is hilarious, even if it is a bit silly. I also off-handedly played the multiplayer expecting it to be fun, but nothing special, and 10 battles later I dragged myself away for dinner. It's brilliant fun. Anyone up for a game of Light vs Dark later?

I am, I'll get my FC later. As for the cards, here's how it works: you get two defaults, two NPCs, and two other cards (weapons and enemies). Everyone got Palutena and Pit's standard cards, your two NPCs were Magnus and Twinbellows, and your other two cards are first blade and violet palm.

Yes, I've been looking into these cards waaay too much.

I'm on the lookout for people to join a 3v3 light vs dark game online this weekend. Me and a friend were disappointed to find you couldnt team up and play other people online unless they were your friends, so we decided we'd try to assemble 6 players.

Managed to have a go today, not a fan of the controls and can see it becoming tiresome after a bit.
