DSi XL worth it?
Re: DSi XL worth it?
I wonder if I should get a DSi or DSi XL for my DS games. Playing them on the 3DS certainly isn't bad, but I know that it could be clearer.

Re: DSi XL worth it?
The thing about the XL that got me interested was the size and it seems like the color is more vivid. I'll keep my lite for GBA games but the XL is probably what I'm getting next.

(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Re: DSi XL worth it?
If there's a price drop for the DSi XL... that's something I'm going to seriously consider.
I still play my original-style DS pretty regularly and since getting Korg DS-10+ I find myself wishing I had a DSi for the expanded capabilities. And the bigger screen really appeals to me.
Another part of me wants to just get a 3DS, but there aren't too many games for it I'm super-interested in TBH. The smaller screen is a turn-off and the fact that there's probably going to be a redesign before long makes me want to just wait for that.
It's something I'm still on the fence about, but now that the XL is cheaper than a 3DS, I'm leaning towards that camp.

Re: DSi XL worth it?
Dude, the DSi XL is fucking awesome. I went from an original DS Phat, that while it worked fine, I had been wooed by the fantastically bright backlight on my girlfriend's DS Lite. I went ahead and went balls out and got the DSi XL (Mario Anniversary edition! Woo!) and it's one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. Games look great on it, even though they're scaled up a bit, the battery lasts forever, and the big fat stylus it comes with is actually comfortable in my big hands. It's awesome!
I've got a 3DS as well, but I've found that DS games don't look quite right on it. It might just be my mind playing tricks on me, but I much prefer playing DS games on the XL. Though it can get tiring if I'm holding wrong for a long time, but that's rarely a problem.
Anyone on the fence, go for it! Bigger is always better!

Re: DSi XL worth it?
I traded my DSi XL towards my 3DS, but I can honestly say that in my opinion it is the absolute best way to play DS games, provided you do not care about portability issues.
It almost feels like you are playing the games on a tiny tv or something, and you will notice details that you hadn't even seen before. The sound is also leagues better than the regular DS speakers, although i think pretty much everyone just uses headphones anyways. I actually regret trading mine in, but I was broke and I really wanted a 3DS. Oh well, you can't have everything.

Re: DSi XL worth it?
Strange fact: the DSi XL is now cheaper than the DSi. DSi remains $150, while the XL is now $130. So basically there's no reason to get a DSi at all (bizarre pricing move, Nintendo!). The XL is better even ignoring the size, because the battery lasts a few hours longer than before.

Re: DSi XL worth it?
With the price drop coming up for both DSi and DSi XL, you gotta ask if you are planning to get the 3DS within this year - I do NOT think there will be an announcement for a redesigned 3DS this year (at either E3 or TGS), I am still not sold on the 3DS (give me a 2nd analog nub and a better DSi Ware store!).
I did get the DSi XL last year for playing Radiant Historia (plus several DS games), you do get a bigger and brighter screen than the DS Lite, which does improve gameplay for some games. Unless you have a ton of GBA titles that you want to play on a DS instead of the GBA, I see no reason not to consider a DSi XL.

Re: DSi XL worth it?
I've been playing my DS phat so much lately, that I've really been looking into upgrading to a newer model. A black DSi XL would be perfect for me, especially with this price cut.
