I keep wondering if they could somehow get around the red tape and bring tobey maguire into the avengers series, without calling him spiderman.

Anyway, I have no idea when Sony's rights will lapse on spiderman, and even if the movie bombed, it'd be crazy to hand it back to marvel.

Tobey in an Avengers movie is highly unlikeable. Spider-Man, maybe.

Marvel now has Disney money backing them, and a reacquisition of the character could very well take place. But that also all depends in who writes the script, if everyone is available, of the part is accepted, etc.

As long as we don't get Avengers vs. X-Men (which so far reads like second grade fan fiction) I'm happy.
Why even worry about Spider-Man in the Avengers yet? He's a relatively new addition to the Avengers. And there are soooo many fantastic classic Avengers tales to tell that don't involve Spider-Man.

I guess, but all the hype around the next member being antman isn't particularly exciting to me. Great, he can fit in a toaster. As for getting bigger, even with the best special effects, that always ends up looking silly. But I also had my reservations about Thor fitting in, and they did okay there (by pretty much just sort of glossing over the rediculousness of it).

I feel the same way.

Hank Pym would need some incredibly talented writers to make me excited about a guy who talks to ants and bitch slaps his wife around.

But, would be fun seeing the Hulk going Shadow of Colossus on Antman.

Valid, but the hype surrounding the villain in the next movie has me in a fanboy frenzy!

1) This trailer seems interesting but I am not holding my breath. On the one hand I was so used to the tone of the Spiderman trilogy that this dark and "edgy" version is kind of a turn off. On the other hand the fact that it is so different might make it the best Spiderman film ever, just like X-Men First Class turned out sooooooo much better than anything that came before it.

2) I liked Spiderman 3. Yes it was a disappointment but that doesn't really make it bad. It's not Batman and Robin or even Batman Forever. I'd say if the first 2 films were Batman, this one was Batman Returns. Still good but too weird for its own good. I just feel that the film got a lot of bad rep because it was "cool" to bash it.

Though I agree Venom (the character not the black goo thing) should just have been left out of it.

3) No I don't want to see Spiderman going back to Marvel. Ironman? very fun movie. The same could be said of the Avengers. But the rest of the Marvel films are just meeh. Plus I think what American comic companies do, having all their stories take place in the same universe, is just silly. Simply put Batman CAN NOT be on par with a guy like Superman, Green Latern ect. He only works as a hero in a universe where there are no monster aliens who can fly around and beat the living crap out of him. That is what makes the Christofer Nolan films so good.

And imo Spiderman as a hero can't compare to characters like the Hulk, Ironman and Thor. Then again I think the rest of the avengers in the movie were pretty lame (specially captain America.....so basically he is a good athlete with a shield made out of Nokia's 3310? (9gag reference) big deal).

The reason the X-Men work so well is that because the character's powers are so well balanced.

Can't help feel it all seems a bit rushed. None of the excitement that the first one brought for me :(

Just differences of opinions.

I heavily prefer X2 over First Class (they should have called it "coach").

Spider-Man 3 is a disjointed mess. To me it's a cgi crapfest with shoddy writing.

One of my biggest worries about the Avengers was how Cap would be believable as a commander. He knocked it out of the park, and I wouldn't call his stand alone film lame.

But, we both see eye to eye on a film neither of us has watched yet :) I already have issues with the new origin, and I have the same issue with Bay's TANT. I don't know, it's like making Thor an Italian.

I guess X2 is what you'd call a classic X-Men story and a classic superhero movie. After 2 bad X-Men films and a bunch of average at best super hero films, the first class just seemed so fresh to me. Plus the acting was just top notch. How do they manage to get 2 different set of actors to play prof. X and Magneto SO well?

I guess in the end it's just a matter of taste/opinion. Anyway, I'm fine with your opinion since X2 was a good film. I just felt that the first class hit it out of the park....at least when it comes to my tastes.

It wasn't great, but not THAT bad. I mean when I came out the cinema I had had a good time.

Um....I guess this is a cultural difference, but Captain America didn't feel like a leader. He was all muscle and no brains imo. Tony Stark would have been a better leader.

Michael Bay should just be banned from making movies out of other people's properties, but people went and saw the Transformer movies so it's their fault (I didn't make the same mistake twice, let alone a 3rd time)
