The last couple times I played it the game would take 5 or more minutes to completely boot up. I would load a game and the main character and setting would load, then after about 5 minutes the NPCs and enemies would finally show up. The machine was running as loud as a dreamcast.

Then today I was fighting Xord and the cut scenes were stuttering horibly. After beating him and gaining two new party members the game gave me the disc error asking me to eject and restart. I complied and the game then wouldn't load giving me the same error. I tried another game to see if it was the Wii and Bit.Trip Complete loaded just fine. I tried Xenoblade again, loaded up my save file, beat Xord again with no stuttering and all seems fine.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I ask this because someone elsewhere said that this is a larger than average Wii game and that may have caused errors. I don't know if I believe that so I am asking people I trust.
I have not had these problems whatsoever. Xenoblade Chronicles is a dual-layered game and that can be a problem, especially for some earlier Wii consoles. I think I've heard it's mostly anything purchased 2009 or earlier. You may need to send your Wii in for a free repair/part replacement from Nintendo.

I was wondering if there'd be a lot more going on character wise eventually, like the other Xeno games... that is certainly the case at this point and I'm completely loving it (how many times have I said that is this thread? lol).
You are at about 2/5ths of the way story wise, but that is if you don't rush with all the side quests. You will just keep getting more and more, so even if it is 2/5ths of the story it is probably something like 1/5th of the game if you do a good amount of side stuff :P

And high five mate. I told you guys about 9 months ago when I got this game how AWESOME it was :D.

@Spacebooger

No didn't have any such problems with the game and my Wii was bought in February 2007 so I don't know if it's what equalsign said either :/

It sounds like a problem caused by the dual layer disc. Some Wii consoles lasers can have trouble reading them, especially earlier ones. If I recall correctly, Smash Bros Brawl and Metroid Other M have similar issues. Nintendo should fix this for free provided you haven't modded your Wii.

I got mine in Dec 2007. I had no problem with Metroid Other M and already sent it in once for a heating issue while it was still under warranty. I looked online and the automated thing told me it was out of warranty... I'll call to see if they can do anything about it.

On a side note, since people are posting how far they are, I'm about 22 hours in my characters are around the level 27 mark and I just beat Xord. How far along am I, 1/5th?

Maybe? That might be a little optimistic.

They fixed my Wii out of warranty for free when it stopped reading dual layer discs and Gamecube discs, because it was a known problem. You should be OK if you to decide to get it fixed. My Wii was a launch day model.

I have the newer Wii and it's been running just fine, no problems here.

Man... now that's what I call getting your money's worth. This game is way bigger than Skyrim, heh.

I can't see the story being as grand as Xenosaga, but at the same time I can see the game feeling just as big as the whole Xenosaga trilogy combined easily, lol.

They fix this problem regardless of warranty status as long as the console reads single layer games fine. After the repair, your Wii will have a new, "repair warranty." Can't remember how long that lasts, but it may be another year.

Edit: Do not let them convince you to buy the Wii lens cleaning kit. It will cost you 15 dollars after shipping. My friend tried it when his Wii stopped reading Brawl, and it caused his Wii to stop reading all games. You Wii has its problems because of low quality parts used by Nintendo on early Wii consoles. That is why they fix it for free. Do not let them charge you more for their mistake.

I don't know how grand Xenosaga's story was, but it gets at least as grand as FF9's

So I called Nintendo and told them the problem and made the mistake telling them that the two Metroid games (Prime Trilogy and Other M) along with Xenoblade giving me the disc read error and now the are fixing it and making me send the games in too.
So I will be sending my Wii and games in to get it fixed...
Today I played the game and it worked fine... I hope it gives them an error when they play it.
Anyway, thanks for the advise to get the Wii fixed everyone!

Perhaps they want to check if the problem is with the games or the console? I don't think they will try to get out of repairing it. The costs for them should be very low, and the cost of bad PR because of them being stingy about it too big.
