Lately I have been losing interesting in video games and I wonder if any one else has been through this phase.
I feel like every game I put in is a game that I have played before its basically the same thing with different looking characters and art direction(and sometimes same art direction) . Its all doing the same thing over again and again. I am also extremely annoyed with games where you have to spend a lot of time before you can proceed on. For example in Mario games you play as fast you can or as slow as you want. But some other games force you to train(where you will gain 1 level every hour of game play) until you reach level 6 before you can move on or beat the boss or enter a dungeon.
I especially get this with games that gives you constant upgrading. Things like fight 100 fights to get the special sword that you can beat the boss with, or another collection coins to upgrade item X(found in Dead Space, none the less amazing game) . I constantly get this "I did this before...meh"
Of course there are still the good+innovative games out there that will catch your attention but I am guessing that something like 90% of the games or even more are repetitive. I am tired of seeing "yet another Halo or GTA or COD, or COD but named something else as if it another game" . Lots of clones.
We hardly see innovative games with different approaches, Like RE1 when it was first released or MGS or even AKI Wrestling games on the 64.
may I also add that I am tired of the iOS platform where every game is another Angry Birds clone. Looks like there are really 4 games and 20,000 versions of them. Reminds me of NES clones where they used to say "100 GAMES BUILT IN!!" while they are 4 with different colors or weird looking levels.

In before ”there were a lot of generic platformers on the NES and during 90s”kingmohd84 wrote: Of course there are still the good+innovative games out there that will catch your attention but I am guessing that something like 90% of the games or even more are repetitive. Investors, Hollywoodization of video game industry, new casual gamer crowds and stubborn gamers who dont want to try anything new, those are one of the main reasons behind the problem.
If there are investors, market research teams and such thinking ”how can we make this game more profitable” rather than ”how can we make this game better”, you have a problem. If gamers rather pay 60 dollars/euros for the exactly same game we've already seen 20 times during the last 2 or 3 years rather than for an unique/innovative/artistic experience that offers something new, you have an even bigger problem. Generic shooter vs Half Life 2/S.T.A.L.K.ER/Deus Ex/System Shock 2
Resident Evil is a brilliant game, but I'm pretty sure Alone in the Dark is the first true 3D survival horror game.kingmohd84 wrote: We hardly see innovative games with different approaches, Like RE1 when it was first released or MGS or even AKI Wrestling games on the 64.

Re: Losing interesting
I've got to say that I personally feel as a platformer fan that Sonic/Mario clones, no matter how horrible, still were more original than copy cat modern shooter games are/look/feel.

thanx noiseredux
I speak English pretty well but I think I have some sort of an issue where I type things and I do not notice them until later. I was pretty sure I wrote "Losing interest"
@Hazerd
interesting comment , I wonder if others agree.
@AppleQueso
maybe , I never really had a true hobby before I just jump from one thing to the other
