Really starting to get this game and now coasting through first 3 stages. Just loving it. Only got 2 runs in today, but they were both solid.

Posting both scores today:

Hit (69) items on this run, which is a personal high. This started out as a meh run, didn't get my multiplier til late, but had my best stage 3 run, just really hit it well and collected (29) new items on stage 3, which is by far the best i've done there.

Had this run also, my new high, and again, temporarily taking the lead:

Crazy score Mike... and it drove me to do better :)

Dunpeal2064 - 3,928,380 - Stage 4 - Karte - 71

A temporary lead I'm sure!

Finally was able to complete a few sets early on with minor mistakes and run with it.

I'm gettin the hang of the stage 2 and 3 bosses, but the 4th boss is such a whore

This game is like crack. I hate it when I make early mistakes, but once I can complete some sets and just blast and dodge, with the occasional charge for big points, its pure bliss.

Nice! I hope to get some more time in on Tuesday - I feel like I can top that, but no promises, that is damn impressive, 71 items, wowza.

Yeah, but oddly, 2 complete sets leaving stage 1, and I didn't complete axes until stage 3. At some point I cleared a 4th set, but I think it was just before the 4th boss, so it didn't get put to good use.

I'm really gettin hooked on this one. Its an acquired taste, but once you get it, its just brilliant.

I must know who developed this, and if Yagawa had any hand in it. Feels far far more similar to Garegga than Kingdom Grandprix.

You know that once this month is over we're gonna have to push through. We gotta at least break 10 mil :)

Download this emuluator (v3.0): http://shmupmame.wordpress.com/download/
Once downloaded, there is a file toward the bottom you have to unzip or something, you'll know which one when you look at it.

Download this rom: http://www.romnation.net/srv/download/rom/22595/

Move that downloaded rom from your downloads into the rom folder inside your shmupmame folder.

Launch shmupmame, select dimahoo from the list of games, and you're off.

Now we just have to cross our fingers that MAME works well enough to get Noise hooked, but that it still leaves enough to be desired for him to go for a Cab

Are you great?
*They* are great!

I believe as of right now, 1.75 is my plateau. I tried yesterday and just now and can only still do around 1.5. Too many early deaths in Stage 2 and 3, and the only set I can complete consistently is the Food. I never said I was shmups.org superior, they're getting 10 million and up

But, I will admit playing this has re-tuned my mechanics to do slightly better in the older ones I favor, I learned that on a real arcade excursion this past weekend on Galaga 3 (Gaplus). In that game you earn "ships" captured from enemies and all that sweeping to avoid boss shots in Stage 1 & 2 also has helped me keep more of my ships in that game for the awesome Challenging Stages where your score can skyrocket.

Bravo to those who can break 2M (and 3 / 4 as of right now)

I don't think I'm going to post my scores this month until I can get more than 20 minutes of play time in. I'm embarrassed of my less than 1 Mil score.

One thing I noticed is that I'm really inconsistent scoring. I'm assuming most people are making it through stage one without getting hit? I've tried to do that tail trick with the first boss and I haven't noticed any substantial score increase besides just shooting the head and killing him in 5 seconds.
