2 years ago, I had the snes, and all my favorite games, but we moved. I started to play super mario world, when my controller got schocked, and stopped working, this happened about 2 more times, and the games store sold them for $15, and off brand ones for $9.99.someone suggested putting the controller on a wet cloth. I got mad, and sold the system. I bould a snes portable with wireless controllers hoping that would fix the problem, the system died in 1/2 a year, probally from being shocked. I traded in all the games, and quit playing games for 1/2 a year, untill I came across a game gear, another story. I went to a fleamarket, who sold snes controllers for $2 each(real ones) I though for the same price of one I could get 6 or 7, so I bought the snes back, and it took me $110 plus dollars to get all my games back.

I wish I would have kept some games, like kirby super star, Im having a touch time finding one, a local game store has one for $28 dollars, but I dont have enough right now.

My brother selling off my NES collection that I'd worked on for years so he could get a Gameboy Color and some games.

My NES collection now just plain sucks in comparison. I seriously had like everything: I had all 3 Super Marios, both Zeldas, all 6 Mega Mans, all 3 Castlevanias, all 3 Adventure Islands, all 3 Adventures of Lolos, the 1st 2 Ninja Gaidens, both Ducktales, all 4 Dragon Warriors, Final Fantasy, Battle of Olympus, Bionic Commando, Contra, Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and so many more. I have around 30 NES games all together, now.

I notice that almost every post in here is about people regretting selling stuff, or not buying something when it was cheap. Hardly any of use regret spending too much money on our games.

Is there anybody here that has bought something big, say 200+ and regretting blowing the cash?

I bought a Gamecube (or rather my parents did), yet my GC collection is in the single digits.

Nothing that big, but I did get Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on PS2, which is a bit pricier than most used PS2. I was pretty disappointed in it. There was just too much going on, IMO. Too many "super" moves which was just cheap, too much animation and screen-filling moves, and just so much movement everywhere. I felt like I'd get a seizure if I played too long. The "vs" series peaked with Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Super-Heroes, which is a much cheaper game and the one I should have gotten. I've since traded MvC2.

Not really retro, but I regret buying some Xbox 360 games as brand new for 55-60 euros, definitely not worth the money. Mortal Kombat, Mass Effect 2 and Gears of War 3 to name a few. Some of the games I played for less than 2 hours like ME 2. Unless something that I absolutely desire gets released, I probably wont buy any new PS3/Xbox 360 games before they're dirt cheap (next generation, people getting rid of their old games). Too many dissapointments after seeing a promising trailer for a game that turns out to be dumbed down garbage/terribly generic and dull.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I'm pretty sure everyone who bought a 3DS for Mega Man Legends 3 fits into the "buying regret" category.

Meh, I was one of these, but Kid Icarus Uprising soared above my expectations and certainly made up for it.

My biggest regret easily is selling off my Genesis and all of my games - I had a copy of Valis: The Fantasm Soldier complete in box that I sold for dirt cheap as a package deal with my entire Genesis collection, Valis itself is going for 30-80 ranging from cartridge only to CIB, let alone some of the other gems I had (whether they're expensive or not, I loved Rocket Knight Adventures). But luckily, thanks to Racketboy and JoeyG fueling my collecting desire, I'm well beyond my original collection and couldn't be happier. Well, maybe I still have a ways to go, but still, it's nice to have almost all of my original games that gave me so much joy as a child. /Nostalgia.
