Ya know, that's what I always used to say and I did have a shaved head for a couple years straight. But I've gotten a bit lazier over time. Shaving your head on a consistent basis is time consuming and trickier than it looks. Now I usually cut my hair once it gets long enough to require combing.CFFJR wrote:If I ever start to lose it, I may end up being one of those "shave it all off and be done with it" guys.

I remember in high school I was jealous of a few of my friends for having perfectly shaped shaved heads. If I had a darker skin complexion I would definitely at least try a bald look once. But with my pale complexion and probably a head with bumps and knots in it, I'll keep my hair.BoneSnapDeez wrote: Ya know, that's what I always used to say and I did have a shaved head for a couple years straight. If you're just shaving it all the same length as opposed to something like a buzz cut where you have some blending between lengths to do, it gets easier with practice. I just shave all of mine off with no guard. GO over and across so you hit it from 2 angles and then a feel and a peek in the mirror usually ensures I didn't miss a spot.Luke wrote:I remember in high school I was jealous of a few of my friends for having perfectly shaped shaved heads. @Luke. You could try sneaking up on it. Use a longer guard at first. If it starts to look like you don't have the head shape for it or you think you're startign to glow too much, stop. If things are looking all right, try the next guard. But you're right, not everyone has the right shaped head for it. One guy at school that tried it because my friend and I were doing it... did not look good. At all.

Well, I've go a healthy head of hair so I plan on keeping it. Plus I would more than likely find some odd birthmark ("he's fine, it's just three 9's").Hobie-wan wrote:

Now's the part in my post where I admit to completely loving the movie CLUELESS and make a reference to one of my favorite lines in the movie.

When our septic was put in last fall, the trucks literally buried out walkway, as in, pushed it into the earth up to 6" in some places. I thought I had dug it all out (which was a bit on the brutal side). Today we went to put in a new walkway - we went flagstone and chose a "roaming path", the idea is to look a bit like a tree, since we are surrounded by trees - we thought that would be sorta cool.
Smile - It is done. My kids were troopers, we started at 8a and finished at 3p, and my 3 oldest kids literally helped the entire time.
They dug it out, laid the weed guard, straightened the edging, carried / cut open / poured the paver base, tamped it down, laid the stones, backfilled w/more base, laid the pea stone, and filled in all the gaps w/their little hands. Amazing.

Mildly ticked - wish i'd gone w/the 3" inch edging instead of the 4". There were a few places i'd hit where there was evidently concrete still underground, because as I was tapping the edging in place, it would not go as low as I needed. Once the grass in that area finally comes in and I can see if it is still bothering me, i'll use a sawzall and trim that 1/2" off in those places.

That's a pretty awesome little family project. That's the sort of thing they'll probably remember for years to come.

^Thanks AJ, Luke and gtmtn. I'm gonna put another couple hours into it on Monday and extend the path 6" in each direction, it'll allow me to fully cover the edging that is driving me crazy right now, and we'll do a 6" path of red or brown river rock to give some contrast and pop - most importantly, the new edging will be outside the scope of the buried concrete and can be fully level w/the surrounding ground. I think i'll be much happier.
Here it is now all cleaned up:

And here you can see where i've extended it out, just marked it, haven't removed the soil yet:

@gtmtn, here is my septic mound, now that the grass is coming up:
