I think maybe it's important to recognize Microsoft likely is not targeting people in the know with this rumored move.

Arguing what's cheaper than what ... yeah it's more expensive, yes it's a bad deal ... but so are most things people buy due to cost of ownership. People still don't pay attention to it. so ... it's not worse than most of those things.

So yea this is happening but you can only buy them at a Microsoft store. There are only 21 MS stores in north America. One of them happens to be in the mall of 'merica. I am totally going to troll my little brother by getting him one of these.

Does any one else see m$ doing this for their next console? It is kinda a good idea from a marketing standpoint. Lower the cost of entry and you will be able to get a lot more people on board at launch. I also kind of like the idea of not having to pay out the nose for a console at launch so I would be kind of interested myself if it were to happen.
