Does this game require any power leveling later on? I haven't done any grinding so far and I've been okay. I just fight every enemy I come across.

I think I missed out on a couple skills early in the game though, as I equipped new weapons before I learned them. Ooops. I don't think it'll matter because I already seem to have better skills.

That's what I did. I never did any grinding unless I just wanted a character to level up a little more.

I had to grind a bit at the end. I had some trouble with the end boss, so i spent 4 hours, leveling up and getting better weapons/armor etc etc. In the end. I probably spent too much time leveling up because at that point the boss was fairly easy. But I still had fun.

About 11 hours in. Just took a boat to an island and Geis joined my party.

I also beat the first one of those optional colossus bosses (I forget what they're actually called). Thing was pretty easy. It was like a fat slow-moving dinosaur that just kinda casually strolled around while my party destroyed it.

I'd estimate I'm about a third of the way done the game. It's a ton of fun, I wish all RPGs were this fast-paced.

I agree with you on the fast pace mention. I have now moved onoto Crisis core. Boy its much slower than Seven. Only about an hour into it. Anyone know of any other "fast" paced RPG like seven that i should look into?

The other Ys games. :)

Secret of Mana too, if you've never played it. Ys Seven is actually a lot like Secret of Mana, I'm surprised I've never heard anyone compare the two.

Secret of Mana is on SNES.

There are 3 other Ys games on PSP: I & II Chronicles, Oath in Felghana (a remake of Ys III), and Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim.

Ys VI is a solid game, but the PSP port is pretty poor. Look for it on PS2 if you're really interested. I & II Chronicles and Oath in Felghana are amazing.

Well Seven is the most recent installment, so expecting older games to have graphics of a similar quality doesn't exactly make sense. Also, I & II Chronicles is more of an enhanced port than a remake so it keeps the classic 2D look.

I actually think Oath in Felghana looks a bit better than Seven, to be honest.
