I saved the triforce, with some help.
I enjoy playing video games, that's the reason i come here, but ive got to admit its not as fun playing solo. Whats the fun in beating something and turning around and looking for someone to share the experience with only to find that your house is empty? Its the same thing after youve read an awesome book or seen a great movie, who could you tell that would share in your enthusiasm for that same subject? not a lot of people, i guess that why alot of people come to places like this. Im one of the lucky ones who has someone to share their gaming passion with, When i was younger it was my sister, she wouldnt play anything but she was a watcher and she allways held intrest in what i was playing, but now she will just text on her phone to her creapy boyfriend, and that drives me crazy. But for the last couple of years ive had a fresh mind to Corrupt with nostalgia
I can see it now, years later he'll set down and say ''i dont know why but i want to dust off that old nes and play some mario'' thus always giving the youth a soft spot for retro gaming. Its a dirty trick but very effective. Right now he is my little sidekick he's 8 and i am 18 he was born on my 10th birthday so its really easy to rember how old he is and when his birthday is
As the title suggests we beat zelda one the nes today, it was an awesome game and now i can tell why it was at the top for so long. We were both entertained the whole time and finding a secret after setting everything around it on fire was a great feeling. And we play everything from super mario world and donkey kong country to sf2 and tetris, can it get any better? does anybody else find themselves influencing younger people?
uhhhh........yeah.......scrotumwound wrote:no
I know exactly what you mean. I have a 7 year old step daughter that is currently "under training" lol. Shes already beat Mario 3 and Super Mario World.......with no help from me. I couldnt do that at her age. Her other faves are the sonics and DKC's and she seems to have a new liking for on rails shooters. She was tearing it up at some star fox the other day, so it looks like I might have to show her some more in that genre. She seems to be a prodigy and wows me more every day.

I did a long while ago. It was way back when the N64 was hot. He had one but he never played it that is until I came around. I remember playing through Banjo Kazooie, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, it was a blast. But it ended after awhile, I went into middle school so we weren't at the bus stop at the same times, so we gradually stopped hanging out. Now he's in Middle School and I'm in High School. I see him every once and a while but he has changed. He now plays football and basketball which isn't inherently wrong on it's own but he's a real dick now. Now the only game he ever wants to play is Guitar Hero.

I'm the younger brother in my family, but my older brother did it all wrong when I was little. I was always the watcher while my brother played, but usually this was because the game was one player and I wanted to play something else, and my brother would be a jerk and play untill dinner, or it was a two player game that my brother insisted on playing alone.
If you're lucky to have a younger sibling, do not do what my brother did to me growing up. You see, because of how he acted during my first years of gaming, I ended up a Sega fan and not enjoying co-op games.

I've instilled a healthy appreciation for retro games in my kids ages 9, 9, and 4. For them, all these systems are interchangeably fun. Yesterday, for example, we played games on SNES (Zelda ALttP, Super Star Wars), N64 (Pokemon Puzzle League), GBA (Advance Wars 2), Xbox (some Sponge Bob game), and DS (Worms 2).
The other day we went to one of my boys' friend's 10th birthday party and got him an NES and a handful of games. (This boy's mom actually found the console itself but I refurbished it and tracked down all the necessary cords, controllers, a zapper, games, etc.) Let me tell you, it was a huge hit! All of the kids there were mesmerized by Super Mario Bros.
So yeah, I'm doing my part spreading the love for retro game goodness.

I dont think I'll ever know what people see in Guitar Hero, the worlds most repetitive game. If your going to spend all of your time playing with a toy guitar why not just practice playing a real one.UBERTRON777 wrote:I did a long while ago. It was way back when the N64 was hot. When I was a kid was the only pc gamer around my street influenced highly be an older cousin so I did influence a lot of my neighbors to a certain extent, then later on became close friend with the smallest kid on the group he is about 4-5 years younger than me and I can say he is into pc gaming a lot because of playing at my house. Now he always has a better pc than me with the latest stuff and video cards and he even studied computers.
Also one of my best friends has a younger brother and around the time I sold my ps1 kept my backups and gave them all to him and as I saw his interest into rpgs tried to encourage him and guide him for what were the best games. Even so that he has played games I never had the time to try out like star ocean and valkyrie profile. Now they got an xbox a few months ago and he's was asking me for adventure games and rpgs to play.
