Game shop owner on used games, DLC & online passes

Post by ExedExes »

I know the opinions of today's video game industry seem to polarize a lot of people from time to time, but I think this guy nails it all. If you have 41 minutes, this is a game shop owner's opinion on used games, DLC, online passes and the state of video games today. He makes it clear that it is NOT used game sales causing studios to shut down, more so the greed of today's big publishers, and how stuff like on-disc and day one DLC are hurting gamers more and more.

I got drawn into this and could not stop watching. Now you all know I don't dabble in the seventh generation quite yet but eventually I will and if I can't get the total game experience because of content/servers/codes and passes that are not going to be supported when I get around to getting these consoles and games at rock bottom prices, that would really suck.

Dude's hitting the nail on the head.

While publishers are sacrificing studios, consumer rights, and the likes in names of profit ... there is an enormous chunk of the sale going to distributors. (and I imagine there aren't many to compete)

I think the situation is a little more complicated than what is displayed here. But it's not inaccurate.
