are there any projector users out there? I just bought one.
About a year ago i bought a cheapie projector for like 70 bucks (shift3 lightblast http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Sh ... oduct.html),
I know its a low end projector but i have a dark basement where i can easily set it up with no problem, I've been looking for a better at a decent price with better specs. I found 2 models on ebay, and i decided to buy the one with the most connections, (svideo,a/v,hdmi,vga). http://www.ebay.com/itm/250527055546?ss ... 732wt_1163 I just received it yesterday i was amazed! This is exactly what i was looking for, I played my sega saturn and ps2 with no problems, I dont know if i will ever go back to playing on televisions again.

I have been strongly wanting to get into these. Could I see some pics of your setup? How well do the games look, and what are you using for the screen?
Re: are there any projector users out there? I just bought o
My main "tv" is a 720p mitsubishi DLP projector thrown on my wall giving me about a 100 inch screen.
I have all my consoles I use (2 ps3s, sega cd, saturn, dreamcast, wii, and a pc) and my cable box hooked up through a nice pioneer A/V receiver and couldn't be happier.

i will post pics tomorrow,i used some white boards as a screen, the measurements are 70 inches width by 60 inches height. as far as the clarity it is 100% sharp thanks to the focus lens, it depends which input you use, a/v is a bit fuzzy like always but svideo and hdmi are crystal, even using my board dimensions. The only gripe i have is that the projector speaker is weak but it has l/r audio output to connect to any sound source (which i did).

I own several, as mentioned in this topic:
http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 15&t=37651
I do backyard projecting and use several different projectors depending on weather conditions.
The ones you mentioned are ok, but I highly suggest looking at this projector instead of the Digital Galaxy rebranded one you linked to:
For an extra $100 you get a stupidly good projector that should honestly be double the price. I recently installed two of these in my church and they offer a stellar image though only a handful of inputs. The Digital Galaxy one downconverts your HDMI image to 640x480, which is fine but know going in that its not a 1080p projector. You do loose the HDMI input, but you get double the resolution and five the contrast ratio. And if HDMI is that important, just buy this:
It works wonders. But adding it in makes the projector almost double the price.
Odds are you wont find a projector with good audio. But thats nothing that a $100 computer speaker system cant fix.

ah man, i was actually looking at that same projector from the amazon link..lol, it was a difficult decision on my part but i went with the digital galaxy. The resolution difference doesn't bother me, I'm just glad that i did not get ripped off with some janky projector..lol, I'm actually pretty impressed with everything it has so far and a few of my consoles can be connected simultaneously. I just wanted to share the wealth with my good fortune. Now im working on building a projector screen, i will begin the project in a few days, ive read a few online tips and im pretty sure i can build it. i cant wait... oh and my image screen sizes are 77 inches width by 56 inches height.

Yeah but wouldn't it be ideal for SNES/GEN etc??? Maybe no upscaling and still a huge picture.deathsled wrote:wow I just opened the link for the projector the OP bought...

Cloudrat, I am very curious to see your setup and your opinions of the Digital Galaxy one over time. Since Mech Warrior Online is coming out soon I am tempted to build pits again, and a cheapo projector in the cockpit will be far cooler than a cheapo tv.
Edit:
Well Ill be, my Benq can be bought Manufacturer refurbished on Ebay for $200:

Hmm, now I really have to think about it.
