Anyone who hates homosexuals and claims to be a Christian has a major problem.

Many things have a "negative" impact, but would be impractical to ban or might be viewed as curtailing people's rights if they were banned. What is a negative impact anyway? How does one define what is bad for society? How do we balance the rights of people when their rights conflict?

It's all based on beliefs.

The stupid people are reproducing too much.
People strongly on the other side of this would say the exact same thing, if the law hadn't passed.

How is one "against homosexuality"? Obviously you're not gay yourself, but what about those folks who are? And why do you care about the sexual orientation of other people?
I'm "against it" in that I think it's wrong. I don't support forcing people to stop it or anything. And I don't hate gays either, I just don't like what they're doing.

Well color me confused.
Ok, that lesbian stuff was made up by fans, for the record. And I'm not "in the closet" either. There's nothing sexually attractive about men to me.

And as for marriage being a right or not, just remember that as far as the government's concerned it's just a legal status. Someone can be married without being married, as the part of marriage that has existed for thousands of years is just a verbal agreement between the two parties. I don't see how the ability to have it recognized in a legal capacity by the government is a civil right. More like a privilege.

I just don't understand your viewpoint. I'm having trouble seeing what's wrong with homosexuality. Not trying to call you out or anything, I'm just intrigued is all.

I'm Christian, the Bible says it's wrong, and the idea of it just seems wrong to me.

I may be misunderstanding you, but are you saying that because you follow traditional Christian moral beliefs, you believe that the US government should not allow gay marriage? Or have I gone too far in saying you are against government recognized gay marriage?
I think he said his only problem would be forcing pastors, etc to perform marriage ceremonies for gays if they don't want to.

...which they wouldn't be required to anyway iirc.

You are exactly right. I'm fine with gay marriage being legal, I just don't want anyone to be forced to go against their beliefs because of it.
