Coffee or Tea?
Re: Coffee or Tea?
Coffee. COFFEE ALL THE TIME. I drink at least three mugs a day. Black with no sugar. I make it with one of those Melitta single-cup hot-water drip things. IMO it's the best way to make coffee in terms of quality/easiness.
I used to be a big tea fan and I still like the occasional cup of tea, generally green, but I almost always prefer coffee.

Wha? More caffeine? Tea leaves may have more caffeine, but a cup of tea has less caffeine than a cup of coffee.sabrage wrote:Tea. More caffeine, tastes better, more variety, and doesn't stain your teeth.
Anyway, mostly coffee for me though I appreciate both.

Sounds like you're talking about a pour-over brewer?Nemoide wrote:I make it with one of those Melitta single-cup hot-water drip things. IMO it's the best way to make coffee in terms of quality/easiness.

I brew about 50% press, 40% pour-over, and 10% chemex or vacuum methods. If we're hosting 20+ people I bust out the drip brewer.
You should totally grab a Hario V60 if you're using the Melitta po. TRUST ME, you'll begin to impart new and exciting sensations. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... feegeek-20
Make sure to get some good filters! Filtropa makes a nice filter at a sweet price point. Just make sure to rinse them prior to the brewing process.
::EDIT: Forgot to mention the importance of a good pour, especially for the Hario or beehive designs. The Buono is pricey but well worth it, imho.

Re: Coffee or Tea?
All. In the past I have had to give it up completely but finally found a system that my stomach and mind can agree on:
- Coffee in the morning - Black or with light sugar. Sometimes with creamer, if I have access to french vanilla or milk.
- Black or Green teas in the afternoon. Bigelow is my favorite that I can get everywhere, PG tips or Bently if I have the cash, Dragon Brand Gunpowder Green tea is a personal favorite, but really hard to find outside of big Asian markets.
- None of either after 2100 local time unless I can sleep in late - I get head and stomach aches the following day if I do.
Since it is 1131 local, time to swap from coffee to Red Rose black.
Edit:
In my mind, sweet tea doesnt count. Thats like lemonade or coke, its everywhere in the south.

Does pour-over taste better than press (objectively)?s1mplehumar wrote:I brew about 50% press, 40% pour-over, and 10% chemex or vacuum methods. If we're hosting 20+ people I bust out the drip brewer.

Re: Coffee or Tea?
Tea, southern style. Not with any of that peach shit mixed in, just some good, strong sun tea with a pretty decent amount of sugar mixed in. (For a normal, US sized cup, 2-3 packets of sugar, or until I like the way it tastes.)

Coffee, heavy cream, artificial sweetner. Yum.
Tea, heavy cream, honey. Also, yum.
