Looks like everyone is taking Karte to the dance.

For me, Solo-Bang is not fast enough and Miyamoto is way too fast. I've had some fun runs with Gremlin and Birthday. Still messing around with with Gain, Chiatta, and Golden.

1. Solo-Bang: The Warrior
--Bomb
2. Karte: The Sorceress

3. Miyamoto: The Dragon

ExedExes - 1,752,870 - Stage 3 - Karte - 39/108 - MAME

Acquired here:

Pinwheel (Yashichi -- don't be fooling Capcom!)
Ruby
Wood Fairy
Legend Sword

Would have done better but if you get pretty damn far without dying that rank skyrockets!
Also was missing Level 5 Food and Shoes so no double points anywhere.

Nice one Exed! If you have happened across a full set you would have hit that extend!

I am really likin Gremlin, managed a 2.5mil run w him. Might switch to him.

I like Gremlin for stages 1-3 and I can score 1.7-2.1 mil through stage 3, but his lack of speed on stage 4 is brutal and I just get wiped out fast. Really depressing getting to stage 4 w/all lives and a decent score, only to die 3 times in 45 seconds. Maybe it would get better w/practice, but I did that like 4-5 runs in a row and was just depressed - went back to Karte.

Gremlin is intense, because you actually have to weave in the patterns, instead of avoiding them. These patterns are so fast and thick that it feels better to just go around them, but with Gremlin it can be pretty fun sitting in the shit and tapping around.

His charge shot has screwed me out of the Legend Sword a few times, as my magic attack will end before the midboss dies, but I think he has potential.

I just hate when Karte's magic does not go where I want it to. I miss the Fairy all the time because of this.

I actually thought the hitboxes were much bigger in this game, since it is fast and manic like Psikyo, but the hitboxes are actually pretty damn small.

I don't think any game (aside maybe Futari Ultra) keeps me on the edge of my seat so much. I never feel like I'm in the clear and can chill for a bit (although stage 3 is a bit of a chance to catch my breath)

This is definitely a game I'll be regularly coming back to.

Its funny... my gf hates all my arcade boards right now... except Dimahoo. She says that Raiden II and Gunbird piss her off too much. She says this game is so hard that she feels ok dying, but she feels stupid dying to one random bullet in Gunbird.

I would agree w/yr gf.

Gunbird "seems" easier and it is much more frustrating not making progress in that game.

Plus w/Gunbird, it seems as though I made stage 4 by my 2nd-3rd run, and then continually did the same thing over and over...stage 4 boss, 290-330K, occasionally stage 5.

Dimahoo, progress and new ideas for success everyday, there are so many ways to attack this game, and meanwhile, the game is attacking you. It's brilliant.

Yeah it really is.

Its crazy that I have played stage 1 so many times, and yet there is still so much to learn.

What gets me about this game is, you can really piss it off. I had 2 sets complete on stage 1 once (no idea how I managed that), and I did not know it yet, so I decided to start picking apart Busturtle. Holy shit, that boss can get harder than any stage 1 boss I have ever seen.

This game makes Garegga look simple

So sadly, I may have to sell Gunbird and Raiden II. If the gf isn't interested, they probably aren't gonna see play.

Has anyone figured out those treasure chests at the beginning of Stage 4? I got one token worth 50,000. I don't know which treasure chest I hit or what level I was at because I was too focused on not getting blown up!

Anyhoo, here is my score on that run:

2,864,750 - hashiriya1 - Stage 4 - Solo-Bang - 63/108 -MAME

I "think" those boxes drop Dream Box at full charge, and items that you have not yet picked up of whatever level you are at between 1-7

Not positive, but I think thats how it works.

Tried out Grimlen some tonight, just struggled w/him though. Back to Karte for now...

Funny, a week ago I would've said i'd never hit 2mil, now I feel like I should be hitting 3mil every run, if I could get my shit together.

Case in point, I had a perfect start, got the Ruby on stage 1 and had an x3 multiplier going when I exposed the gold dagger thing from the stage 2 midboss, as he was dying, he released a last wave of those blue bullets that turn red and they were covering the dagger - but it was 300K, I had to go for it...and...died. Lost 4 bombs, 300K and 1 life. I finished the run out though and came up w/a new high:

2,374,560 - mjmjr25 - Stage 4 - Karte - 56/108 - Arcade

Scores updated in OP.
