So, what do you think of Wasteland? And what about Fallout?

I meant that you mentioned it a little before the kickstarter ended, not that you pestered me for 3 days. :lol:
:lol: oh ok, thought you were putting it all on me haha. Either way, I am expecting and hoping for great things from it.

Pretty stoked for Wasteland 2 myself. Like others here though, never played the original.

I think I like ALL the Fallout's evenly. Combat wise, I really enjoyed 3 and NV. But they were far from perfect in terms of story, pacing, etc.... Combat wise, I don't enjoy the original two. Point, click, point, click... it's terribly boring to me in comparison to something like Jagged Alliance. And I mean I could try doing a build that's just pure speech, but I like balance in games with action and other stuff, so I don't know if I'd enjoy that. From the bit I played of Planescape I had the same issue, everything seemed promising but the combat itself was not great.

That said I got to the end of Fallout 1 and I want to get farther in Fallout 2 someday. Overall I still recommend them for the atmosphere and music alone.

I had to pledge $50 as soon as I heard, same for Double Fines graphic adventure. Once in a lifetime chances to see things like this developed, couldn't wait to drop some cash on them!

I play Fallout 1 and 2 through about once a year still, and Arcanum as well, at that. I beat F3 but was immensely disappointed with just about everything (except I really like how the SPECIAL system was adapted to 3d, the targeted shots was really well done, too). NV I tried to get in to, but after the disappointment of F3 I just couldn't.

I have played the original Wasteland a few times, it generally gets filed in the category of "games that were before my time so I can't really get in to them". I've tried, but it's so unforgiving and unintuitive for someone who was raised on a different style of gaming and RPG that I find it way too hard. I like all of the concepts, though, I guess.

Oh, don't say that, I'm willing to talk about how it looks or why you backed up the sequel.

@Stark

I'm also wiling to hear you talk about Fallout. Let's edit the title!

I'm considering fun games to play if I get an open console so this is why you see me beating around the bush so much lately.
Fallout is a great game and I think still totally playable. I love that they seem to put so much thought and care into the backstory and "how the world works", which colors character development, story, and design choices. It also seemed to be one of the best of the turn-based strategy games of that era. Others had come before it (X-COM,Jagged Alliance, etc.) but I still think that the marriage of that style of gameplay and the post-apoc setting really set Fallout apart.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

The original Fallouts are both quite playable and enjoyable today, but they are also extremely buggy. The first one had a bug where whenever you sold something to an NPC they would regain all of their lost currency, makes the game way too easy if you exploit it IMO. The second has even more game-breaking glitches but there is a near-comprehensive fan patch that also includes all the developers fixes and some fan made fixes. Both are worth playing but be sure to look for patches.
