Turns out Sony WEGA TVs have a function to turn off interlacing(!) for a 240p-like effect. In the service menu find "INTL" and change the value to either 3 or 4. Currently I'm away from my CRT at the moment so I can't try it out but I'm sure a lot of Racketeers here have been curious about something like this for their 480i only PS2 arcade compilations and whatnot!
PS: Would be great if someone can confirm this is actually the case... just going off from what I'm reading online
